Final Set Score: 2 – 1 to Eusoff
It’s the boys’ second preliminaries match against Kent Ridge, who has quite a number of IVP players, but it was a small challenge for the boys who overcame them easily.
The first line we have the giant Pin An, Khan, Yee Chern and Jethro. Despite the varying statures of the boys, all of them pulled their own weight and dived hard to save all the balls, wanting to have an edge over KR. Special mention to Khan jumping up and seizing the chance to do his monster blocks, as well as Pin An with his spikes so powerful that I also got a shock when I heard it (I’m pretty sure it stunned the KR team too). KR did well in defending, but they have nothing over our boys who claimed 2 sets in a row and won their line.
freshie superstar goes in for his ~usual~ MONSTER SPIKES and causes KR to be stun like vegetable..
Next, we have Zhaoxiang, Nicky, Xinlong and Max. This KR line admittedly had a really good spiker (hearsay is IVP capt or something) and they had a 0-4 lead over us in the first set, but our boys did not give up as they clamped back and tried to even the scores in both sets. Their desire to win burned on even though the opponents pressured them hard. The boys’ composure on court when facing tough opponents pulled through and we reduced the gap to 11-15 to KR for both sets, letting KR win this line.
Our last line we have Ryan, Jared, Chao Zhou and Kevyn playing the decider match, but the captain line is unstoppable with their many years of experience. KR trembled under our line up, as they made many questionable spikes and outs, even siam-ing our spike. This was probably because the boys' spikes are too strong and KR has nothing against them, winning the first set with 15-6. In the second set, our boys decided to take it easy and gave KR chances to score, ending the set with a simple 15-8, claiming the line and the game to Eusoff.
captain Mula erupted in cheers as his line destroys KR and brings the game back to Eusoff's favour
It was not too easy, but our boys pulled through with their skills and claimed the game 2-1. Next, they’ll be playing their preliminaries on 23 Jan against Sheares, before they advance to the semis. Stay tuned and watch as the boys play even harder than before!
PS. Shoutout to Javier for covering this match!
