With Track being the last competing event of IHG, spirits were high amongst all the supporters at the stands, watching the trackers warm up on the field. Lots of tension was in the air as the track teams of all NUS halls warmed up next to one another. Noticeably, Track is one of the few sports where spectators get the chance to see all the different halls supporting their representatives at the same time, as we see the runners in each lane cheered on for their event. However, this gave us an opportunity to show our Eusoffian spirit, demonstrated through the sea of yellow lining the edges of the field at the last 100m of the track.

For our first event, the girls sprinted in the 4x100M relay. Elsie Woo started us off strong in lane 6, where she quickly overtook her opponents and passed on the baton to our second runner, Georgia Chung. Georgia maintained our position as 3rd overall, fighting off runners from TH and KE. With a smooth pass to our third runner, Mabel Leow, we managed to reach 2nd, even though it was really tight. But of course, a smooth pass to Shannon Ng sealed the deal, where she overtook KR’s runner and finished FIRST for this race, with the smell of rubber at the end of the finishing line. With that, the girls claimed the victory for the 4X100M relay.

Our next event was the boys 4x100M relay with Daniel Neo starting us off in lane 5. At the sound of the clapper, Daniel set off in his red spikes and maintained us at 3rd place, despite strong efforts from Raffles Hall. With a good pass to our second runner and captain of the boys team, Irving, we were all able to witness the speed that this man brings to the track. Another swift pass to Nicholas Tan, and his determination to do his best for his fellow Eusoffians and for himself. Finally, the baton was passed on to Jun Yu, and with one final push and a SPECTACULAR dip from Jun Yu, we finished overall 3rd, behind RH and TH.

Next we had the girls 4x400M relay, starting with Chelsea Chen in lane 5, who took off at a strong 2nd. A very nice pass to our second runner and female captain, Poomigah, where we saw her long legs dominate the track before she handed over the baton to the next runner, Elise tan. Elise took off strong too and maintained 2nd position, before she passed over the baton to Eline. Eline continued to push herself as she ran alongside KR’s runner, and ultimately came in 3rd position for Eusoff.

Next we had the boys 4x400M relay. Our first runner, Kevyn Yong started us off strong in lane 5 before passing over the baton to the second runner, Ray Ow who overtook KR’s runner shortly after his launch. Ray maintained 3rd position as he handed over the baton to Khai Tjie who also overtook TH. Lastly, the baton was handed over to the last runner and Sports Director Luke Chiang who fought off the runner from TH, and landed us overall as 2nd!

Next we had the girls 4x200M relay. Starting us off for this race was Elsie Woo in lane 5, who gave us a solid start in 2nd place before handing over to Mabel Leow who maintained 2nd. With a smooth handover to Poomigah, we had a leading edge over RH and other halls. Lastly, with one final pass of the baton to Georgia Chung, the girls landed 2nd overall against competitors from TH and KR.

Last but not least we had the boys 4x200m relay. Irving started us off as first runner in lane 5, maintaining a strong 3rd position just behind KR and TH, before handing over to Timothy Tan. This leg of the race was tight but with a swift pass to Luke Chiang, our third runner, Luke overtook KR, before handing over the baton to Jun Yu, who finished us off at 3rd overall!

Our trackers really pushed themselves to their limits on the track, as us spectators saw them collapse onto the field after finishing their runs. Shoutout to Khai Tjie for rolling off of the track after his run so that he wouldn’t disrupt other runners. The spirit of camaraderie was also strong throughout the team as we saw our Eusoff Trackers cheer each other on and comfort one another. Every single member of the team gave their best during training and on race day, and we saw this in their attempts to go all out for their team and for Eusoff. Compliments to Shannon, who seems to be an expert at her breath control when she finished first for the 4x100M girls relay, and Jun Yu for his spectacular attempts to dive to help Eusoff get an edge over the other halls that we were alongside. Every person in the team played a huge part in the success of Eusoff at this event, including those on the reserve team.

Captains Poomigah and Irving give a warmhearted thanks to the team for all of their efforts in training and have a message for their trackers:

I know that we didn't train a whole lot together, but thank you for trusting us and for believing in us. Thank you for all the laughter during training and for making training a little less painful. Whatever the results are, we are very proud of yall!
