The Eusoff female volleyball team had their very first IHG match against Sheares Hall on the 28 January 2020. The team did extremely well and won overall with a score of 2-0 to Eusoff! The team warmed up at UTown Green 15 minutes before the match started, and the relaxed looks on their faces showed how composed they were for the match ahead.

First set: 25-8 to Eusoff

The first set was kicked off with a sick spike from LYLC volleyball legend Kaiqi, scoring the first point for Eusoff and reassuring the supporters of the team’s potential. Ex-captain Yen Yi, who will be with us for the whole of IHG as her exchange got unfortunately cancelled, secured the third point for Eusoff with her smooth and successful dive on defence, allowing the ball to be kept alive! Throughout the set, our team’s powerful moves and strong teamwork slightly intimidated the opponent as we coursed through the points almost unfazed, as the opponents to make errors left and right. Our Freshie Series Superstar Yunxi shone on court as expected, as she made not one, not two but THREE service aces in a row, bringing the score to 9-3 (a very wide margin indeed!). Even as the score climbed to a whopping 16-3, Yunxi maintained the standard of her service, and made her EIGHTH service ace.

Excuse me but what’s going on here HAHAH

The set was finished as the ball was seen ricocheting off the opponents’ hands due to Kaiqi’s powerful spikes. Eusoff wins the first set with an impressive score of 25-8!

Second set: 25-13 to Eusoff

Our girls started the second set strong with a score of 7-3, and were indisputably putting on a clinic. Yaoyi service aces twice in a row forced the opponents to call a timeout as they tried to figure out how to receive her serves. Big Jo served two back to back spikes and forced her way through the opponent’s defence, bringing the score to 15-8.

Big Jo Jolene plays what seems to probably be her retirement match for Eusoff. Cheers to our ex-publications head!

At this point, adorable table tennis captain Jolyne stepped onto her court and sent the crowd into cheers, definitely one of the highlights of the game! The crowd was heard cheering for “Jolene! Jolyne! Jolene!”, but the team had three Joleynes/Jolenes and nobody knew who they were actually cheering for. When Jolyne sent her first ball flying over the net, the crowd absolutely loved it! Towards the end of the set, the setter of the opposing team accidentally set the ball for Yaoyi who mercilessly thundered it for another point, bringing the score to 22-12. Eusoff clinched the second set without any road bumps and the won match overall in the end comfortably.

Well done to the girls for their good plays and their impeccable teamwork! Eusoffians who watched on definitely have even more faith in the volleyball team after watching their performance today. It was definitely a heartening sight to see the team’s chemistry on court with their immense focus and drive towards winning for Eusoff! All the best to the team for their subsequent IHG matches.
