Months of intense training culminated to this day, as our volleyball girls begin their IHG battle against the formidable Temasek Hall! The fiery and determined spirits from our girls hyped up the audience as they knew they were about to witness an exciting match. The bleachers were squeezed with Eusoffians cheering even before the match started, filling the sports hall with the Eusoff Spirit.
The girls started their first set with a good serve, setting a great momentum. Both halls were extremely fired up and each player gave their best shot at each dig and spike. In the first set our player, Jolene displayed brilliant serves that caught Temasek off guard. TH players spiked many balls over but many of which were saved by superstar Yen Yi! TH was on a roll and gave many hard smashes but our girls were unfazed. Mabel and Yanshan took one for the team and had many notable saves! BRAVO! Cleo also single-handedly did a back underhand, saving the shot and displaying great dives. A timeout was called by EH and the score was 16-11 to Temasek. After the break, freshie Cleo was so beastly to the extent that some say her jump height was as tall as the legendary Mark Shen?!?! Her powerful yet amazing spikes left TH scrambling everywhere. However, TH rode onto their momentum and took the first set with a score of 25-17.

“EUSOFF EUSOFF” was all the noise that filled and echoed in the chilly sports hall. And with that, the second set kickstarted. Yanshan and Jolene stationed themselves strategically at the net, became the wall of Eusoff and blocked quite a few of TH’s thunderous spikes. Truly a great wall! Beastly Cleo stood out again with many brilliant saves and spikes, along with Yen Yi’s merciless spikes! Both teams showed excellent teamwork and communication. However, TH players gained momentum again and rode to a 10 point lead, with a score of 15-10 to TH. The sea of yellow at the spectator stands could be heard screaming and cheering at the top of their lungs to spur our girls on. What a spectacular sight! A timeout was called by EH to break TH’s momentum.

After the break, our girls were back in action, this time with eyes that were so focused that laser beam could be seen shooting out WOAH! Sick spikes from Jolene, Yen Yi and Cleo tightened the score gap and left all the supporters hanging onto their dear seats. Secret weapon Joyjoyli came on and served a couple of impressive spikes land straight onto TH’s ground. SWEET! Our girls were on a roll and soon, the score became 23-22 to EH. Intense and crucial period, but TH called a timeout to slow down our momentum. Superstar freshie Mabel served but it went straight into the net. TH was on a game point but EH put up a good fight with a super looooooon rally and ended with a spike that unfortunately went out. The second set ended with a score of 25-23 to TH.
TH took the game with a score of 2-0. Our girls may have lost the game but they have definitely won our hearts! All the best in their upcoming games and let’s continue to support our girls!
