Overall: Eusoff 1st!!
It's here. The long-awaited event that was cancelled last year due to the pandemic is finally here. Tension filled the air as the various halls gathered by the stands alongside their runners who were anxiously waiting for their events to begin. Our Eusoff boys were different, however. Excitement and anticipation could not be concealed under their faces as they were ready than ever, to bag us the GOLD today.
4x100m (against RH)
Our first event of the day is the 4x100meter relay. The lineup was as such: Joel Jet, Wen Kai, Tin Tin and Cheng Tat. The starting leg was run by Joel Jet, a Y2 fass student who has a 16 hour sleep schedule. Just like how Usain Bolt has the word bolt in his name and runs as fast as a bolt, Joel has jet in his name and he flies like a jet 🤩. This is also his first IHG race, as the event last year was abruptly called off. The second leg was Wen Kai, the fastest man in Eusoff. Known as the IVP legend and having won many competitions throughout his life, he is definitely the one our rival halls have nightmares about. The third leg was run by someone familiar to all, our Captain TinTin! (if u dk pls go and read the captain series). Finally, the anchor leg is run by Cheng Tat, the most knowledgeable man in Eusoff and also the up and rising future president of Eusoff??
While supporters were not allowed this year, everyone present at the track were pindrop silent as the runners assumed their positions. Ready, set..*CLAP*. Joel bolted off and he slipped at his third step. Despite the setback, he braced and pushed on as he quickly regained his footing. Through the bend, Joel could be seen slowly catching up to the RH guy in the adjacent lane, which is quite amazing since he made up for the lane’s differing distance in such a short period of time. Approaching the 100m mark, Wen Kai starts his run. At the 100m mark, a smooth pass could be seen as Wen Kai received the baton perfectly, without any time lost. At this point, a lead could clearly be seen between Wen Kai and the second leg runner from RH as Wen Kai turned on the JETS and started accelerating. Soon enough, the 200m mark was in sight. Again, the effort from hours of baton passing practice was now starting to shine. TinTin retrieved the baton and continued to extend the lead. Then finally, the time has come for our anchor, Cheng Tat. In a blink of an eye, he was off and at top speed. Cruising along the final stretch, he effortlessly blitzed through the field and through the finish line, beating RH by a whole 2 seconds. Overall, we came in 2nd for this race but it’s a job well done nonetheless.
Wen Kai and his opponent make for an interesting contrast on the track... guess that IVP flex is just different...

4x400m (against KE)
Next up, introducing our 4x400meter lineup. First, we have Joshua, the NDU star as well as the man who got a free coaching session from the IHG officials. For the second leg, we have Isaac the beast.. who went for frisbee training just this morning despite knowing he has a race at night. For the third lap, we have Glenn Cho (tiktok star) and dark horse who showed up to the open trials without having attended any trainings and still destroyed everyone. Finally, we have our anchor, Eusoff’s top tracker, Mapler and Eusoff’s most handsome man, Luke. It was interesting to note that this team was entirely made up of freshies, as the seniors decided to take a back seat and leave the race in their hands.
*insert Glenn’s amazing pre-match ritual*
And the race is ready to begin. Starting off, Joshua instantly caught up to KE runners from the outside lane. At the 100m mark, he was already 20m ahead. Without breaking a sweat, Joshua managed to continue this pace up till the 300m mark where the lactic acid starts to build up. Joshua dug deep and gave his all, finishing with a split of 56.59s. Next in line was Isaac. Upon receiving the baton, the lead exponentially grew. 50m turned into 75m, as competitors from KE were left behind in the dust. Isaac managed to grow the lead as he finished with an impressive time of 55.75s. Then, it was up to Glenn to showcase his speed. Like the titans in Attack on Titan he runs with grace and speed, maintaining the lead created from the first two legs of the race. Down the final 100m, Glenn could be seen smiling as he casually jogs to the finish line, effortlessly clocking a 57.20s. Finally, the man we have all been waiting for takes up the baton. Luke, already a full 100m ahead of KE continues the lead with his mesmerizing strides. Despite not achieving level 230 on his Maplestory account, the experienced 400m runner finishes strong with a time of 56.69s. Overall, the team managed to finish with a time of 3.46.33, at 2nd place.
Glenn bears a grin as he skips leisurely towards Luke.
