With their previous win against RH fresh in our tennis boys’ memories, a lil bit of rain could hardly stop them from raring to go and maintain their momentum against King Edward VII (KE7) this afternoon. Loyal supporters could also be seen making their way down to cheer for the boys despite the drizzle.

Diva kickstarted the game with his singles, proving once again just how much of a beast he was. He absolutely crushes his opponent AGAIN, with his smashing serves and forehands. No mercy was given, and he seemed to not even break a sweat as he returned shot after shot. He managed to maintain his lead from start to end, and ends up winning his match at 9-0, in about 15 minutes. *inserts shocked pokemon meme*. What an absolute beast!

EH 1-0 KE7

Not one to disappoint, team captain Bobby also managed to show how exactly tennis should be done with his solid defence and winners. Not only was he fleeting across the court like a fairy returning shot after shot, he was also shooting bullets back for his opponent to return, all done in style with the help of his trusty headband (obviously). Bobby played aggressively against his opponent the whole time, giving him no chance at all. It was no surprise how the match ultimately ended, with him also decimating his opponent at 9-0 in just 20 minutes.

Captain Bobby starts the day on a good note for his team with a convincing win.

EH 2-0 KE7

Gu Chen and Tristan were our first doubles team, and boy, they were GOOD. Their chemistry was off the charts and they made the crowd went mad with their sick returns one after another. Tristan and Gu Chen were like a solid machine that shot winners like pew pew pew, all the way till their match ended. Focused and determined throughout the whole match, their opponent could hardly match up to their intensity. They eventually won the game when their opponent returned an out, at the score of 9-0 as well.

Gu Chen and Tristan’s chemistry was simply unparalleled on the court that day.

EH 3-0 KE7

Our next doubles consisted of Yi Rui and Yi Chen – double Yis. Yi Chen seemed to have a cannon arm that shot aggressive serves and returns, although that cannon arm seemed to be too loaded at times, resulting in wide shots or out. Yi Rui also showcased incredible gets that had spectators on the edge of their seats as he saved impossible shots not once, not twice, but constantly. Team captain Bobby even proclaimed his love for him, telling him “that’s my boy” at a particularly spectacular save. Despite a few errors and faults here and there, the double Yis still ended up finishing strong and won the match at 9-4.

Freshie Yi Chen returns a ball with even greater strength.

EH 4-0 KE7

Singles player Zheng Nan was the final singles player, who managed to win the first few games with consistent performance, leading his opponent at 4-3. However, his opponent seemed to be pretty well-matched with him, most of his rallies were usually pretty long. Zheng Nan tried his best to widen the margin but unfortunately falls short, his serves usually being too short . It was clear how exhausted he was after many games as his serves and rallies seemed a little short on power. His opponent managed to capitalise on his weakness and sent well-placed forehand shots and volleys, bringing the match to his favour at 4-5, game to KE7. It seemed to be a downward spiral for Zheng Nan at this point in time, since he made even more short shots, as though his shots were like magnets on the net, over and over again. Despite putting up a valiant fight, he eventually loses the match at 4-9.

Final Score: EH 4-1 KE7

Another match won for the tennis boys as they work their way towards the IHG gold. Let’s continue to support them in the upcoming matches! Head on over to EusoffWorks’ Facebook page for more shots of the exciting matches!
