Tennis (F) – EH vs KR
While their male counterparts were vying for a spot in their finals, the Tennis girls had their own semi-final match at the SRC courts. Similarly, the girls were also up against Kent Ridge Hall (KR) and it was definitely not going to be an easy fight for the team. Nonetheless, the girls were up to the challenge as they got ready for their semi-final showdown.
Up first for the team in the first singles position was Elsa. It was evident that she was evenly matched with her opponent as the long, intense rallies signified the fierce battle that would ensue. Despite her opponent leading 3-0, Her strong shots to the back corners won her a string of points as she took the next game, trailing only 1-3. She continued to fight hard as she continued giving her opponent fits with her solid defence, saving balls that seemed like sure-points for her opponent. Despite dropping the first set 1-6, she continued to go toe-to-toe with her opponent, tying the second set at 1-1. However, she eventually dropped the second set 1-6 and the match as well.

Claudia was next for the team as the second singles player for the day. Her steady play and smart shots up and down the court allowed her to gain points easily as she roared to 4-0 start. A solid smash cross court was too much for her opponent as she easily cruised to a 6-2 win in the first set. However, her opponent played better in the second set and did not make things easy for Claudia. She continued to display strong defence and tenacity, running all over the court like with a sprinter’s speed but she still dropped the second set 2-6. It was on to the final set and the tension filling the court was high. Claudia continued to show off her aggressive play as she battled hard, tying the score at 1-1 with swift shots. However, she eventually lost the final set 1-6.
EH 0:2 KR
Representing Eusoff for the first doubles match were Ning and Hui En. Like the previous matches, they were evenly-matched with their opponent and it was fiercely contested from the start. Strong serving from Hui En gave the duo a string of points as the rocket serves were not able to be returned by their opponent, tying the set at 3-3. Ning showed why she was feared, regardless whether she played singles or doubles, with her sick returns and clever plays which made it look too easy. Despite their strong start, the pair dropped the first set 3-6 and continued to give it their all in the second. Their communication was top-notch as they hustled all over the court to return their opponent’s shots, wowing the spectators as their teammates were going nuts cheering the two of them on. However, their strong fight was eventually outlasted by their opponent as they dropped the second set 1-6.

The next doubles pair to take the court were Faith and Leyi. The pair started off strong, with a powerful cross court hit from Faith giving them the first game. They continued to win tough points with their creative shots, sending the ball to the empty areas of the court. Leyi displayed some incredible defence as well, moving all over the court to fend off any attacks from their opponent. Good play from their opponent cost the duo the first set 1-6, but the two of them were not going down without a fight. The second set was much more evenly-matched, with the points constantly being traded back and forth. Powerful serves and well-paced shots allowed the pair to tie the set at 1-1, then 2-2. The pair continued to hustle hard, sprinting from line to line to make plays which spurred even more cheers from the audience. However, with a final smash from their opponent, Faith and Leyi dropped the set 2-6.
