After much delay by the chaotic weather, our girls’ team got to play their first game against Sheares Hall in their hopes of making EH number one for this year’s IHG 20/21!! Throughout their matches, there was strong support all around, especially the tennis male players who came down and cheered for them from the sidelines! There were ups and downs, but overall, they managed to overcome many obstacles and secured their first win of the day, a first of many to come! Let’s go and see the highlights of their matches!
1st Singles: Violet vs SH: 9-6
Smol but mighty Violent in her trademark messy bun (or birdnest?) that sees her through all her IHG matches
This match was one of 2 matches where they and their opponents fought neck-and-neck to secure a win for their team. But after reaching 4-4, Violet decided that it was time to play really serious and show her opponent just how hard it is to defeat a player from Eusoff. There she went, scoring from 6-5 to 8-5, winning the game at 9-6!! Her overhead serves and speed in reaching the ball wherever her opponent had hit definitely pulled her through the majority of the matches! We look forward to seeing Violet more in action in upcoming matches!
2nd Singles: Erica vs SH: 1-9
Erica, a freshie with exceptional talent and passion for the sport, she displayed tenaciousness and perseverance throughout the match! Despite the apparent gap in the score, Erica never failed to make sure her opponent won’t have an easy time scoring. Ending the game off with 1-9, this loss has spurred the spark in her to perform better and take her revenge in future matches! Truly a great showing by her, we hope to see her shine more in the upcoming matches!!
3rd Singles: Faith vs SH: 9-7
Our famous and well-known player in Eusoff, Faith, was another match that took a similar pace as Violet’s match. She and her opponent traded points often, leaving the crowd in awe of their gameplay and making them wonder who would come out the victor. Throughout the match, she displayed beautiful techniques, especially her forehand which had won her points on multiple occasions. A round of applause for Faith as she takes the W for the team and looking forward to seeing her perform in future matches!
1st Doubles: Shu Ling and Vivian vs SH: 9-1
Shu Ling and Vivian displayed excellent teamwork, coordination, perseverance and strong moral support for each other throughout the match. Every point scored was a hi-five to each other, showing that they earned it and they should continue the good momentum they were having! Vivian was able to sneak some shots from the front, which caught their opponents by surprise and Shu Ling supported the team with powerful serves and quick reflexes to boost their reach on the court. Teamwork makes the dream work, and that’s what they had shown throughout the match! Let’s give them our support as they continue to spearhead the team to greater heights, filled with victories and unforgettable moments.
2nd Doubles: Fish and Elicia vs SH: 9-0
This Fish is definitely not out of water as she cleanly wipes out her opponents clean
A clean victory by Fish and Elicia! Their opponents were outmatched and outwitted by their display of incredible skill set, ball control and technique. Their opponents stood no chance against their teamwork! In fact, their match was the first to end alongside the other matches that were ongoing! How awesome is that?? Looks like Sheares got nothing on these players as they continue to dominate the court! Keep a lookout for these girls as they continue to plow through their matches!
A job well done to our girls for pulling off the first win for their team, the first out of many to come I’m sure! Let us wish them all the best and continue to come down and support them from the sidelines or our livestreams! :))
