Following their previous two wins, our boys were more than ready to come back for another tough battle today against Sheares Hall. After a few rounds of warming up, the boys were up and ready to continue their winning streak.

First Singles

Captain Chee Wan starts off the relay with a questionable start at 7-2 (someone said he was monkeying around). Right when it reached 6-10 though, (and I honestly thought he was going to lose the game), he then started to get his head back into the game, and surprised us by winning the first set at 13-11. Once again, he started to play around with us again for the second set, making the score even at 5-5. But once again, he swoops in and saves the second set, earning another win at 11-6. With one final set left to go to win the first match point, he had his game first on the entire time and finally owns the third set at 11-8.

First Doubles

Our IVP superstars Heng Kai and Zhi Xin were our very first doubles representatives, and boy did they know how to keep us on the edge. The two of them really sent us reeling back with heart attacks one after another after losing the first two sets, at 12-10 and another after a tie at 9-9. However, they started to get really fired up and decided that no more chances should be given, thereby starting the comeback of the century. They won the third set at 11-6, then the fourth set at 11-5 and in the most dramatic showdown ever, finally wins the last and final set at 11-4. What a game!

Second Singles

Our resident fashionista for Table Tennis, Zhen You (also another mr headband who could give Bobby a run for his money) was slaying on the court as well, proving his wide range of talents. Not only can he dance, he also can play table tennis as well, easily winning his sets. He wins his first set at 11-6, with a grin on his face throughout. Next sets were then won at 11-6 and then finally the very last match at 11-1. wOw, he really packs a lot of might!

EH 3:0 SH

Second Doubles

Toby and Tzi Wah (or the double TTs) were our second doubles team with pretty sick chemistry. Despite having a little rocky start, where they lost the first set at 11-6, they never let that bring them down, but rather fought even harder, bringing the second set up all the way to 7-2. It was easy for them from then on, as they won the second set at 11-7, with some great team play and great returns. Continuing on this momentum, they then proceeded to win the third set at 11-6 and then finally the very last set needed to win the match at 11-7!

Third Singles

As the very last player, Hong Yi stepped onto court with quiet determination, calm and collected as he started off his first game. He really was a force to be reckoned with, with super sick smashes and a trademark spin at every start. He wins his first two sets with relative ease at 11-6 as well as 11-8. Reaching the very last match though, he seemed to want to have a go at playing with his supporters’ hearts as he kept on being in a tie with his opponent, starting from 4-4 all the way to 9-9. It was really really nerve-racking as we watched Hong Yi for his final moments, and he definitely did not disappoint as he served up two beautiful smashes and won the final set at 11-9.

Final Score: EH 5:0 SH

With another convincing win under their belt, the boys are on a hot streak in their IHG journey. Let’s continue to support them in their future matches!
