Lineup:

2nd singles : Hong Yi

2nd doubles : Daryl, Cheewan

3rd singles : Heng Kai

1st Singles: Bryan Wee W/W/W

Bryan Wee or Bwee. Eusoff’s star player whose presence can be felt in every IHG match with or without him playing. One of the most iconic thing to look out for in table tennis matches is BWee’s cheeky remarks directed towards his opponent. It was no different today except he started off the first match of the semi-finals against Raffles hall. Some noticeable highlights was his 10 bucks bet with the “coach” of doing a double hand shot (that he won), him ignoring the opponent’s “come on bro” by watching the doubles match despite his ongoing single’s match and his humorous pun “don’t lee me hanging” directed at Lee Chee Wan. It’s a shame that no one got some of his jokes, but is ok Bwee i got it all down.

His match was finished in a flash. As hard as he tried to drag the match longer for more screentime, he won all his sets at 11-6, 11-4 and 11-7. It was a shame that our Eusoff supporters were not able to witness his spectacular plays and witty remarks.

1st Doubles: Carlin, Joash W/W/W

Composure and chillness is the vibe I got from our table tennis team. The raffles team players had this random shout, “choi!”, every time they won a point, which was honestly rather distracting. They even had some power ranger megazord formation as they prepared for our team’s attack. Yet, Carlin and Joash were unaffected as they celebrated silent victories and eventually won all their sets at 11-7, 11-7 and 11-5.

Their match was one of the most fierce today with both team’s having time-outs and coach talks. Heng Kai our resident experienced player led the strategy and prep talk, aiding this pair to victory.

2nd Singles: Hong Yi W/L/W/W

Captain Hong Yi finally debuts and what a splash it was - this man really do be the epitome of choke, but thank god not too long :)

The big boi captain this year has finally taken the stage today. One of the conversations I overhead commented on how this match was a rematch. I was intrigued and ready to cover it, thinking it was going to be another intense match. Thinking I was right, he lost his 2nd set at 8-11. However, I was wrong. Turns out, he just choked and won his other 3 sets easily at 11-6, 11-2 and 11-4.

Upon returning from his match, he was confronted by several “Ls” from his teammates for losing one set. Bwee’s love for Ls has infiltrated table tennis and I am sure that these Ls will encourage Hong Yi to do even better in his upcoming games.

2nd Doubles: Daryl, Cheewan (W/W/W)

Following the DJ team of Daryl and Joash from the match against Sheares, today, we have the DC team. From the D.C. universe, Daryl reminded me of Green Lantern and Cheewan as the Cyborg, their teamwork showing after the many wars won in their training. Whenever I was typing out some commentary or was distracted by Hong Yi’s game, this superhero team’s points would double without me even noticing.

But superheroes make mistakes too! Our DC team had some chokes but after some puns and L’s from Bwee, they came back even stronger, winning their match. These were their scores: 11-5, 11-7 and 11-7.

3rd Singles: Heng Kai (W/W/L/W)

Star player (coach to RH Lucas?) showing not even a herniated disc can bring him down as he continues to smash hard up down left right

Heng Kai, the ultimate star player of the Eusoff match was the most entertaining match of the night. After a respectful, no mercy win by him, he gave a chance to the opponent. From the cheers everytime the opponent scored a point, we learned the opponent’s name was Lucas. Heng Kai was literally giving Lucas some 1-1 free training by providing high balls to practice his smashes. What a lad. It was only when he realised he was giving too much chance, that he went back to his serious mode. But it was too late and he lost his third set at 9-11.

The necklace from Amanda that I was tasked to identify if he wore it, gave him the blessings of kindness giving his opponent an opportunity to grow and learn. Despite his herniated disc, the powers of the necklace pushed him forward to continue playing and winning the game: 11-1, 11-5 and 11-7.

With so many skillful table tennis players in our male team, we can be certain that the chances of winning the upcoming finals will be high. Let’s cheer the boys on as they head towards it!
