Multi-talented Cheewan who is as humble as he has talents
Cheewan is a passionate man. From head of photography to ex-captain of Table Tennis, he really is a person of many talents. His table tennis skills is undoubtedly one of the best in Eusoff and perhaps even NUS. Honestly, I didn't even know that his matches had begun and when it was over. The only reason I noticed he won was because he came over to me to report his scores. Thank you for the initiative :’’)) but i could sense some humble bragging going on… But of course such bragging is well deserved given his high scores of 11-4, 11-6 and 11-0.
After the game, he gave a cheeky comment to the live telegram chat group: “I accidentally won 11-0 sia I tried to serve out but it still went in” and “I feel bad”, presumably for the opponent. Such confidence and compassion together with his sweeping victory is definitely inspiring for the team’s morale in the upcoming games ahead.
1st Doubles: Daryl, Joash (W/W/W)
Half of the DJ duo, Daryl is ready to get the party started with his loud smashes
Disc Jockey, a commonly abbreviated term for DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Daryl and Joash lived up to the expectations as team DJ, showing us their moves and shots throughout the game. The amount of leg slamming on the ground and smashing of the ping pong ball is similar to the clubs that our DJ team probably have gone for before COVID started. Yet, it was an honour to watch their game as it reminded of the clubbing experience I should have had in Year 1.
Their scores today are synonymous to famous DJs David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Martin Garrix according to djmag.com at 14-12, 11-3 and 11-1. After the game, Daryl lamented that they choked too hard on the first game. Look out for our DJ team as they climb the charts and win IHG with their superb teamwork.
2nd Singles: Russell (W/W/W)
Shouts that echoed throughout the MPSH was all a result from the intense game that Russell had with his opponent. While I tried focusing on the 1st Singles and 1st Doubles game, I was pleasantly distracted by the cheers and adrenaline that the 2nd Singles match had. All eyes were on that match as the scores were very even at 14-12, 12-10 and 11-7. Russell thought of the even match as a challenge, not feeling an ounce of nervousness as he pleased our ears with his warcry for every point won. It is surprising that the opponent was able to focus with such distraction or perhaps he was not able to, resulting in the opponent to lose all three matches.
2nd Doubles: Heng Kai and Zhi Xin (W/W/L/W)
Even if the duo didn't seem to get much attention during the match, it's okay because now you can see just how determined and charismatic Heng Kai was, even with his injury!
I tried thinking of a good abbreviation to their name but that isn’t working. The report of this match is probably less interesting than our DJ team similar to how their match was overshadowed by the 3rd Singles by Nickalus. Everyone’s eyes were on Nicklaus’s match, that no one even noticed that Heng Kai and Zhi Xin had won their matches easily. They did choke during their third set and eventually lost it which made me wonder if they did that on purpose for the sympathy views. But nah, they seemed to be having fun with the opponent and beat them easily in the next set. Their scores were 11-5, 11-6, 12-14 and 11-4.
Their team members have so much faith and trust in them, that Heng Kai and Zhi Xin did not require the attention given by them. But they had mine <3.
3rd Singles: Nicklaus (W/L/W/L/L)
This was the match of the evening with both Nicklaus and his opponent playing their best. The high and lows were especially prominent in this match, with many close sets, they were 11-7, 5-11, 11-3, 12-14 and 5-11. Every point scored signalled a cheer just whether it came from our team or the opponent’s team. It was nice to see the camaraderie that was displayed by both teams and also the occasional BMing by Bryan Wee to the opponent. I am sure the cheers and encouragement helped both players perform their utmost best and is a learning experience for each of them.
While Nicklaus may have lost today, this is not the last we will see of him in this year’s IHG. Towards future wins and more importantly a memorable journey for our Eusoff Table Tennis Team, press on!!
Final Score: Eusoff 4-1 Sheares
