Today, Our Competition begins at the revered MPSH1, the place where we all froze our hands during GER1000H or GEQ honestly i don’t remember.
Anyway, much like GERQ slayed me, our girls were ready to sLAy today, practicing with renewed fervor after their most recent win against Kent Ridge Hall.
1st Singles:
Zong Han entered the first Singles against a strong opponent, and opened up with a strong spirit. However, an early point lead by her opponent in the first set dragged out into the round. Though she managed to put up a good fight in it and almost clawed the win out of her opponent’s hands, she eventually fell off a series of good smashes and lost her matchup.
Zong Han grits her teeth in her fierce fight against the tougher opponent
1st doubles:
Xin Yi and Amanda set out against a tough pair as well, but Amanda was bolstered by her 10,000 flowers gifted by her cousin and 43 film pictures taken of her. Xin Yi was bolstered by a Corvette Corvette. Off to a shaky start, their smashes simply were not finding the opponent’s table, and they could not rack points up. However, after the first set, great advice from their coach sank in and they started to work on their defense, forcing the opponents to make more and more mistakes. Eventually, a good few smashes and long rallies converted a set into their win, and I’m sure that they would take the match in a best of 50. It’s okay FF and go next kids!
2nd Singles:
Ze Ning finished her first set before Amanda and Xin Yi scored 2 points.
2nd doubles:
Captain Sonia the cat protector teamed up with Shu Ling once again for what may have been the hardest fought game of the day, with two opponents who were doing naruto hand signs below the table. If the game were any longer, I think their water dragon jutsu would really flood the area. Off to a rocky start, their combos weren’t working against the water dragon jutsu team and they fell short of one too many serves in the first set. Though flustered, they didn’t give up and held up against their opponents with respectable points. In the third set, they gained a large lead for the first time that day. On fire, they looked to close out a win. However, their opponent pulled out the reaper death seal sign and, just like sandaime Hokage and orochimaru, had a brawl to the death. In the end, their opponents scrapped by with two points and won the third set as well.
Captain Sonia, protector of cats and table tennis balls
3erd Singles:
Sze Han’s match was one to write home about.
With her opponent in the lead early on, she fought well in the first set, but could not close out her victory. However, her mojo carried onto the second set, where she absolutely decimated her opponent 11-3. Not to be outdone though, her opponent fought back in the third set, taking her to deuce twice before Sze Han managed to clinch the victory. Not to be outdone outdone, in the fourth and final set, Sze Han put on the burners and went DAS DAS DAS and SMASHED the ball so sharply into the table, her opponent flinched once and the loss started hitting her. From then on, Sze Han was in the clear and took a huge W, sealing another win for EH.
Though the girls lost overall today, hard fought battles deserve hearty rounds of applause, and that’s what everyone present did for them. After all, they’ve successfully passed onto the semi finals and let’s hope they get the W next against TH!
