Last but not least, Qi Xuan took the stage in the Male Breaststroke Individual heats! As we were down to the final event of the day and of IHG Swim, the initial quiet atmosphere was ramped up once again for the finale, and everyone was looking forward to the last stretch of the swim journey. Competitors from all halls were sighted looking wide awake and determined to end off with a notable win. Qi Xuan definitely possessed the same desire!

Before the start of the race, Papa Kee Juan showed off his fatherly love to his fellow swimmer, sending him off to his race like a father would do for his child. There was utter silence before the race commenced for everyone was taking in the fact that they had arrived at the concluding race of their IHG for the swim events. The last “take your mark”, followed by the sounding of the horn sounded nostalgic and slightly reluctant but it soon dissipates into anticipation for the upcoming event!

Qi Xuan was off to claim a win! He started off with a fast reaction and a stunning dive! Within the next few seconds, there was pindrop silence at the surface of the pool as the swimmers were all submerged underwater…before the silence was broken by shouts of encouragement from the various halls. Qi Xuan kept up with his second placing behind Temasek, with Sheares just trailing behind Eusoff. At the 25 metre mark, both Qi Xuan and the swimmer from Sheares were almost level with one another, it was certainly hard to tell who was leading! These placings continued throughout until when the swimmers entered the last stretch of the pool, in which Qi Xuan managed to slip away from the clutches of Sheares and gain on Temasek! His tenacious spirit and fine breaststroke skills allowed him to reach the wall just after Temasek, earning him the second placing in this heats!

Overall, Qi Xuan secured third place in the Breaststroke Individual heats, with Temasek emerging as the winner and Kent Ridge attaining second. He clocked in at a timing of 40.38 seconds! We have now come to the end of IHG Swim and thank you to all who had been supporting our swimmers! Eusoff Swim, signing out!
