We have finally reached the last day of IHG for Eusoff Swim! The first event of the day starred the female swimmers - Jamie, Kristie, Branda and Shannon in the Female Freestyle Relay heats. Tension filled the air as they prepared for their final race, which was also the key event in determining their overall placing and securing that Gold!
The first representative from Eusoff in Lane 7 was Jamie, who started off brilliantly by reacting quickly to the horn, diving headfirst at rapid speed. With powerful kicks and strokes, she fervently attempts to catch up to the swimmer from Temasek Hall, who was zooming down her lane at insane speed. Jamie did not shy from the challenge, securing her current second placing the entire part of her race, just slightly ahead of the swimmer from Sheares! She passed off to Kristie after giving her all, in hopes that the next few swimmers from her team would continue to swim just as well! Jamie clocked in at a timing of 34 seconds!
Kristie was up next, diving gracefully into the water. She smoothly made her way up to the surface before breaking out into her freestyle swim. Her arms moved back and forth at top speed while she channelled all her energy into kicking, slowly distancing herself from Sheares and narrowing the gap between herself and Temasek. By the end of her turn, all the teams were spread out from one another, close to a body length. Temasek was still in the lead with Eusoff in second place. Kristie attained 33 seconds in her swim and it was now Branda’s turn to shine!
Do not underestimate Branda, for her swimming skills were superb. She leaped off strongly from her board and it was such a wondrous surprise when her underwater swim took her much closer to the swimmer from Temasek. There was a chance that she would be able to close the gap! It was exciting to see her slowly catching up to her opponent with confidence and ease. By the third quarter of her race, she was right behind Temasek and her incredible strokes and stamina allowed her to level herself with the swimmer just before the end of her turn. She finished her turn at 31 seconds!
In the end, it was up to Shannon to clinch the gold for the team! We were all watching with pounding and hoping hearts as we realised how it was going to be such a fierce battle to win overall champion. There was a fine chance that we could win, considering Shannon’s athletic swimming abilities and how she was clinging onto her opponent as tightly as she could, threatening to overtake her anytime. Chaos ensued when the swimmers were nearing the last quarter of the race as they were equally tied. With our voices hoarse from cheering, we watched in amazement as Shannon inched forward, away from Temasek and touched the wall barely a second earlier with a timing of 30 seconds, winning Gold for Eusoff!
screams of joy all around as Shannon overtook TH by just a few milliseconds in the last meter!! ABSOLUTELY INSANE THIS GIRL
Well done to all our female swimmers for claiming the first place for our hall! We could not be more joyous and proud! Tune in to the swim Instagram live video to catch them in action and witness their race to victory! Eusoff Swim would be coming back with more exhilarating events in a moment’s time!
