The Squash boys were in it for a rough time as our newly minted team were up against the more experienced giants of Raffles Hall. Word on the street was that 3 players on the opposing team were at the level of our captain, Jerry Kwong. The rest of the lineup consisted of a freshie, Yong Jie, while the seniors were Oscar , Sizheng and Kenson.

1st Game: Jerry vs RH 0-3

Hoping to start the boys off on a strong note, Jerry was up first against their opponents in green. However, the first set went a little too quickly as RH’s drive shots had very little rebound off the floor making it hard for Jerry to hit. The first set went to RH. Unfazed by the initial setback, Jerry started to rack up the points he needed to even out the score. Jerry lead through the first 6 points of this set. But, almost on cue, RH retaliated and suddenly the score was even again. The fierce competition between them continued for another 4 points leading to a deuce. Eventually RH came out on top, ending the second set in a 12-10. The third set saw a repeat of the first one. RH seemed to counter the volleys that Jerry had hit.

2nd Game: Oscar vs RH 0-3

Next up was our badminton captain with his Naruto-esque hairstyle. DATTEBAYOU! For Oscar however, this match proved to be a pretty tall order as his opponent had significantly more experience than him of which his Badminton prowess might not have been enough to overcome. He would have needed to tap into that sage mode if he was to secure the win. RH made quick work of the first set. It was not until the second set that Oscar got into the groove and got a few points in against his more experienced opponent. Unfortunately the second and third sets panned out similarly and the game went to RH.

3rd Game: Kenson vs RH 3-0

For this game, Kenson the handsome was in charge. All I can say is that Kenson was on a revenge plot here looking to make up for the loss of the first two games. He made quick work of his opponent and finished the game 3-0; a clean sweep on all 3 sets.

4th Game: Yong Jie vs RH 0-3

The penultimate game was played by one of our freshies: Yong Jie. Despite being largely outclassed in size to his opponent, Yong Jie seemed unfazed and still faced him valiantly. Yong Jie was tested on his agility as his larger opponent sent him chasing after the ball after every shot. Yong Jie’s energy seemed to be in a surplus as he chased after every shot in hopes of beating his opponent. Unfortunately, the smaller energy expenditure by RH allowed them to best Yong Jie.

5th Game: Sizheng vs RH 0-3

Finally we had Sizheng to fill in the last slot. Despite knowing that they had lost this match, Sizheng still played with gusto, fueled by nothing but love and pride as a Eusoffian! TO THE FORE! HOOYA! Don’t be fooled by the score in the live telecast, all the points that Sizheng scored against his opponent were well earned. Someone needs to give this man an award for his lightning quick reflexes. The man dropped his racket as he went for a volley but still managed to pick up his racket in time to continue his rally with his opponent. This man made me wish human evolution moved in the direction of photographic memory so that I can show that scene to the audience. Truly one for the books.

speedy Sizheng's opponent made him do some splits, how is this flexible man not in DP????

Now that the storm is over, our boys can focus on their next match with KR. Keep moving forward lads! It ain’t over till it’s over!
