Our squash boys are back in action after a week of rest and recovery… or rather a week of intense trainings and spying of our opponents! This time, our boys went head to head against King Edward (KE) VII Hall for a spot in the semi-finals. Before the crucial match start, swarms of people donning yellow shirts filled the audience seats to cheer on the boys.

Starting the match was freshie Kenson, who sent the ball travelling at lightning speed every time he swung his racket! His fast smashes and hits left his opponent rooted onto the ground, not knowing where the ball went. How sick is that! The KE player could not keep up with Kenson’s pace and fumbled a few balls and the first set ended within minutes with a score of 11-1 to EH. What a Kenson! Coupled with his muscles, Kenson analysed and did some quick math before sending his opponent running back and forth the court to receive (or try to receive) his hits. The second and third sets ended with a score of 11-1 and 11-0 respectively to Eusoff. Just like that, Kenson bagged the first win for Eusoff within minutes, good job!

EH 1 – 0 KE

Up next, we have Colin, who previously battled his life out against his TH counterparts! Colin and his KE opponent exchanged points as both of them tried to find their own composure. Colin managed to settle down first and sent his opponent scrambling everywhere to receive his smashes. His signature backhand delivers were so strong that he ended the first set with a score of 11-4 within minutes! So sick! In the second set, Colin kept sending the ball to the corners to force some corner shots, but the KE player could not keep up with his extreme pace. It seemed as if our Squash boys have been observing their opponents very carefully over the past week… hmmm… In no time, Colin took the second set with a score of 11-4! Carrying on his momentum, he served a few balls that were so close to his opponent’s body that allowed him to earn a few points because his opponent could not receive them! AMAZEBALLS!!!! Colin took the second match for Eusoff!

EH 2 – 0 KE

Continuing the next match was freshie Wei Jie! Donning the yellow jersey for the very first time, Wei Jie made his debut for Eusoff squash! Despite playing his first game, Wei Jie was calm and composed, sending hard smashes to his opponent which saw the latter running back and forth the court. Debutant Wei Jie was hungry for points and the first set ended with a ‘W’ for Eusoff, with a score of 11-3! In the second set, Wei Jie executed a few cross court shots, which left his opponent fumbling and scrambling around. SIIIICK STUFF. Seems like cross-court shots are his thing! The second set ended with a score of 11-5 to Eusoff. The third set started off a little shaky as there were a few unclear calls by the referee that the ball had to be replayed. However, Wei Jie was all fired up and started to channel all his energy out into his forehand and backhand smashes! His smashes were so hard that even his KE opponent dodged those incoming balls to prevent face disfiguration!!! Wei Jie then cruised to victory with a score of 11-6 in the third set, clinching Eusoff’s third match.

EH 3 – 0 KE

Up next, we have sophomore Jamos! He started the first set easily with a double! Jamos’ great vision and feel of the court earned him the lead, with many powerful hits and smashes across the court. His opponent ran around him like a lion circling its prey, trying to receive his simple yet smart hits, but to no avail. Jamos took the first set with a score of 11-4! The second set started with a super loud smash and continuous smashes from Jamos (again) earned him an early lead. Jamos sent his opponent from top right to the bottom left and vice versa with his smart plays while he stood rooted at the same position, sending the ball in different directions every. single. time. How casual! Of course, the second set ended with a score of 11-6 to Jamos. In the last set, the KE player was pumped up and determined to win this set. Both Jamos and his opponent tried to make each other run for the ball by executing smooth composed hits and plays. With more resilience and better techniques, Jamos took the third set with a score of 11-8! Close but Eusoff took the fourth match!

EH 4 – 0 KE

In the last match, we have another debutant for Eusoff squash — Jerry! Nope, not that Jerry from the cartoon series… but Jerry from Eusoff Squash, Handball and Frisbee! In this match, Jerry and his opponent were pretty nicely matched up and it sure was an interesting and exciting match to watch! Jerry earned the first point from his serve, cool. Both Jerry and his opponent delivered many cross court shots that left both of them scrambling for each other’s hits! However, Jerry’s shots were slightly faster than his opponents, thus putting him an edge over his counterpart. He took the first set with a score of 11-6! After the mini break, Jerry was back in action, feeling a bit more refreshed and pumped. He started off with some backhand powerful cross court shots again and earned some points for himself. His reflexes were so fast and quick that you would’ve thought he was Dash from the Incredibles! Jerry extended his lead within minutes and took the second set with a score of 11-5. The third set started off intensely with Jerry (yet again) sending many cross court shots that could not be received by his opponent! Jerry started playing even smarter, causing his opponent to run up, down, left, right, or rather EVERYWHERE to return the shot! At one point, the KE player was so tired that he lost control and grip of his racquet that it flew out of his hands. The winner prevailed for the last set and Jerry took the last set home with a score of 11-9!

Final Score – EH 5 – 0 KE

Our Eusoff Squash boys won the overall game with a score of 5-0 over KE and are through to the semi-finals!!! Let’s continue to support our boys in their remaining matches!!!
