It is our Squash girls’ debut for this IHG season and they look all set and ready to roll against RH! With their hair tied and shoes laced up, they begun warming up and boy, do they look fierce. In the meantime, captain Natalie is on the bench doing some last minute googling on how to give a pep talk. Well I’m sure that pep talk wasn’t the best but it was the thought that counts! LEGGO GIRLS!

EH 0:1 RH

Up first is Elicia “my main sport is actually tennis” Low aka Laze. She begun her pregame warmup and kinda fumbled it as the ball kept hitting the ceiling. Maybe she thought she was still at the tennis court and has yet to change her stroke and footwork! The match started slow as Laze found herself down in the set really early on. She tried to get out of the deficit with some insane backhand drop but it unfortunately hits the tin. Despite her efforts, she was down for most of the game and she dropped the first game. Major pep talk went on during the short break, but she unfortunately resumed with more of the same as she found herself down and trailing early on in the set. There were lots of cheers and support from the sides but unfortunately she dropped the second set 11-6. In the final game for Laze, she came out swinging. Not holding back, she kept the game even and tied at 6 all. Really having NO RAGRETZ, she goes all out towards the end but tough rallies down the stretch ended her match in a 3-0 loss but her heart to play definitely showed. GOOD JOB LAZE!

Elicia stepped out of her comfort zone to play her debut IHG Squash match!

EH 1:1 RH

Next we got Wey Tin aka WhEY proTeIN in the house ready to get some revenge. Our TM SiHeng had some comforting words to say during the painfully long warmups. “This one confirm win.” Wow! Such support! Such confidence! No wonder he’s always in the running for TM of the month! The match finally starts and it does so with some explosive rallies. With a SIKK forehand Wey Tin jumped to a 4-3 start but her opponent was trailing closely behind. The score was kept tight and we were all feeling nervous except for SiHeng of course, as he was just ‘weyting’ for her to win! She eventually does and takes the first game 11-9. The second game is more of the same as our hero Wey Tin continued to pressure her poor opponent. Forcing random errors on her opponent as the ball flew to the (wey)tin. Still a close game but she eventually claimed her second game. Being up 2-0, she was playing with mad confidence and goes off to a great start in her last set. However, her opponent was not going to go down that easily and clawed her way back to tie the game at 7-7 transiently. Not feeling rattled at all, Wey Tin calmly finished the game with a 3-0 victory. Solid stuff!

With that kind of form, she was going to win from the start.

EH 1:2 RH

Next to grace the court is our Eusoff No. 3 Farah! She was set to face RH’s ace player but she looked cool, calm and collected, ready to play her own game! Game on and it was a rocky start for Farah. She found herself down in the game early on but continued to hustle and play hard! A strong backhand claimed her another point but her opponent continued to mount more pressure on her! A few well placed serves from her opponent helped RH to take the first game. Farah seems tilt-proof as she continues playing her best in the next game. She kept it close with an amazing get and the score gets tied at 5-5. A few unlucky points and good plays by her opponent caused her to be down 2 games in the end. The third game saw a little dispute with the umpire and the ruling that goes in favour of RH. Farah found her opponent at match point but manages to fend off her opponent in 3 straight rallies! Unfortunately she drops a point in the fourth and RH took this match 3-0. Big props to Farah for playing hard till the end!

Farah was unluckily, but she was calm and collected throughout.

EH 2:2 RH

Our ace player raid-boss Fong Ling was warmed up and ready for some of that sweet revenge in the fourth game. She exploded right out the gate with 3 straight points. She looked like she ain’t playing around today. The game ended in a flash and she wins a perfect game 11-0. She seemed leaps and bounds ahead of her opponent and it is just a testament to her greatness. A perfect game in IHG?!?! Quite literally speechless. I think she just really wants to chopchop currypork fastgame fatimah finish this game and balek kampong. More shock and awe from fellow supporters came as she continued to dominate her opponent in an effortless performance. Looked like she was out there playing in an exhibition game. She quickly dispatched her opponent in straight sets and looks as if she had just finished warming up. Legendary performance by Fong ringringring! Mad respect sis.

Fong Ling dismantled her RH opponent.

EH 2:3 RH

Lastly in the deciding match we have Ling Yan! Insane pressure on her to perform but she looks ready for it. It was a tough start for her as RH led early on but quick hands and mad reflexes got her out of trouble as she continued to climb her way back into the game. Still trailing, she fought hard but eventually dropped the first game to RH. In the second set, she went off on a good start but RH soon catches up. She was really giving it her all as she looks like she was covering the entire court. RH unfortunately extended their lead and ended up taking the second game as well. Support was pouring in from the sides as we continued to encourage her to not lose hope! The third set started off with a strong serve that forced her opponent’s ball to go wide. The game was kept close as the points were neck and neck. Mad clutch by Ling Yan as she barely edged out a 12-10 win to stay alive. A quick break and she is back to try and save Eusoff once again. A strong backhand followed by a clinical drop shot earns her some quick early points in the fourth set. She rode the momentum and unleashed a barrage of serves and backhands that forced her opponent into making mistakes. Good stuff as she pulled through to wins the 4th game, tying it 2-2. We went into the final game to decide the match and she wasted no time once again to secure some early points! However RH was not going down without a fight and once again the score was as close as can be! Ling Yan reached match point first at 11-10 to EH. Unfortunately, a few tough and unlucky rallies at the end gave the match 11-13 to RH. Really good effort as she tried her best to pull off an insane reverse sweep but barely fell short!

Ling Yan put us all at the edge of our seats towards the final points of the match. What a outstanding showing despite the loss.

All in all it was a good showing by our Squash girls! Do come down to support these chiobus as they will confirm perform x10 better with y’all there! All the best in your upcoming games girls!
