Our Squash girls are back in action this time facing off against our arch-rivals TH! The warm ups seem intense and the line-ups are set! In order, we have Hannah, Fong Ling, Farah, Weytin and LingYan! CROWD IS HYPED LETSGO EUSOFF WE GOT THISSSS!!!
Up first we have Hannah making her IHG debut! She looks ready and prepared but her IVP opponent seems to be a pretty strong one. NO FEAR THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE! Tough start as her opponent seems to have her number. But she is not giving up that easily! She put up a good fight but her opponent takes the set 11-2. JIAYOUS HANNAH! Next set is underway and more of the same but she tries her best to make it a close game but her opponent is just really really good. IVP is just not the same BUT VALIANT EFFORT HANNAH DON’T GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT! GOTTA MAKE UR OPPONENT WORK FOR HER WINS! She loses in straight sets but all is good the effort was seen and felt and I thought you did great! 🙂
EH 0 : 1 TH
Next we have our raidboss superstar fong ringringring! Can squash ppl in squash PLUS can dance so well in dp? Truly idol !!! She starts off strong with a super smash and leaves her opponent in the dust. So strong meh? HOW CAN!! More solid rallies by fong and she is ringringringing her way to taking the first set 11-3 ezpz. Game face still on and next set is underway. She with a monster smash that catches her opponent by surprise! Continuing to mount the pressure on her opponent she drives a hard ball that unfortunately hits the tin. No matter as she is still comfortably in control of the game. A blink of an eye and her serves is met with no return, she wins the second set in SECONDS heh. Last game and fong is ready to end the match early. She just all-ins and smashes the ball into the wall and her opponent is forced to hit the tin. Casual drop shot and her opponent is sent scrambling but fails to return it. A few let ups but nothing too major and fong closes out the set 11-7 and wins 3-0.
EH 1 : 1 TH
Next to grace the court is fan favourite Farah! Her warm ups are looking good and she looks ready to DOMINATE! She goes off to a good start with a 3 wall boast and takes an early lead 4-1. Her smashes go unanswered and she seems to be in complete control of this game and easily takes the first set. Start of the second set and her opponent already looks flustered. Farah pulls off an insane miracle shot that sends the ball into the bottom corner of the wall and there is nothing her opponent can do. All her shots are nicely placed close to the wall which gives her opponent a tough time trying to return the ball. Middle of the game and some iffy calls were made by the seemingly inexperienced umpires but Farah keeps her cool. She drops in a superb drop shot and takes the second set 11-4. The third set starts and she hits the ground SPRINTING to a 3-0 lead. She fakes her opponent and only hit the ball at the very last second and her opponent let her guard down for that split second for an ezpz point. Final nail in the coffin for her opponent as the ball lands just at the glass door and she smashes her racquet into the glass instead of the ball. Farah takes it in a 3-0 victory.
EH 2 : 1 TH
All smiles from the cheerful weytin as she begins to warm up. Her opponent lowkey seems kinda mean to her but it’s ok we gotta be the bigger man and play with sportsmanship! She starts strong with a close shot to the wall and her opponent fails to return. She makes a few mistakes and her opponent is desperately trying to claw back into the game. Lowkey moments of tilt but it’s ok just play your game Weytin! Tough loss as she drops a rly close first game. Second game starts and she finds herself trailing early. A combination of lucky shots by her opponent and iffy calls by the umpires made weytin visibly irritated but she is SMILING THROUGH THE PAIN !! TRULY IDOL !! I may be biased but her opponent seems to be getting all the calls she wants with the lets and her scoops go unnoticed but it’s fine JUST DO YOUR OWN THING WEYTIN! Unfortunately she eventually drops her second game as well. Third set starts and she ain’t messing around. She goes on a quick run to score 4 consecutive points and her opponent looks gassed and calls for a floorwipe down?!?! After that weird uncalled-for break Weytin then ends the game with a sick shot straight to the corner. Fourth game and she starts strong but her opponent seems to have found her rythym and begins to gain a small lead. She stretches that lead and eventually takes the game to force a final deciding game. GOOD JOB WEYTIN DON’T TILT YOU TRIED YOUR BEST!
EH 2 : 2 TH
All our hopes of making it to the finals lie in our ACE PLAYER SUPERSTAR LINGYAN!! It feels like the entire hall is in attendance as the supporters from above finished watching our Netball girls win their championship but LINGYAN NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT NOWW!! The courts are flooded and the atmosphere is tense, there has never been a squash match this HYPED in the HISTORY OF IHG. The match begins and she is off to a slow start. Finally she’s on the board but is already down 1-2. No matter as more and more eusoffians come pouring in to show support! The chants are deafening as she levels with her opponent 4-4. It is neck and neck and it levels again at 9-9 with neither side letting up. Clutch shots by her opponent and she takes the first game 11-9. NO WORRIES WE ARE ALL HERE FOR YOU WE BELIEVE!!! Second game starts after a random court change and Lingyan finds herself down 0-3 but with that championship mentality she immediately answers with another 3 straight points of her own 3-3. Her opponent is giving really high serves that cause a few unforced errors but she barely holds on it is 8-9 to TH but EVERYBODY IS STILL CHEERING! All faith in LingYan and she doesn’t disappoint as she claws back to a 10-10 deuce and THINGS ARE GETTING HEATED. Both supporters of EH and TH are causing insane noise pollution and trying to give our players as much support as possible! Calm and composed, LingYan takes the second game 15-13 in dramatic fashion and the crowd ERUPTS into MVP CHANTS!!! YEAH GIRL!!! MOST INTENSE SQUASH MATCH I HAVE EVER WITNESSED.
Third set starts and it is neck and neck once again. I am so nervous for her I’m sweating just watching her BUT SHE GOT THIS! SICK SHOT ONE AFTER ANOTHER and she clutches out with a 11-7 victory SHE IS REALLY MY HERO!! MORE MVP CHANTS FOR HER as she enters for her fourth set. She finds herself down 1-10 early buappears to have been hit in the elbow. Injury timeout as everybody waits for news on our superstar! After a long wait she returns and her elbow looks badly bruised but she is truly a champ and presses on but drops the fourth set. FINAL SET OF THE FINAL GAME and everybody is on edge. I was so nervous my heart was at my throat just watching her BUT I HAD FAITH IN HER THE WHOLE TIME. Our MVP played with all her heart and she definitely showed what it truly meant to have that championship mentality. Finding herself down a few points but never giving up. At the same time, the true MVPs were all them supporters cheering her on! Every single one of y’all made a difference and I’m sure she felt the same having the entire hall behind you! Felt almost unreal towards the end as her serves were ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL and she clutches out the final win. Truly emotional win and the entire hall burst into celebrations and MVP chants. Tears of joy and definitely a well-deserved win. IDOL LINGYAN! Really embodied the heart of a champion and fought till the end. Get well soon LingYan WE LOVE YOU!

CONGRATZ TO THE SQUASH GIRLS FOR MAKING THE FINALS!! What a tough win against TH but it was definitely one for the history books. Rest well and good luck for the championship!! WE ARE ALL SO SO SO PROUD OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF Y’ALL!!
