Overall Score: 5-0 to EH

Our Squash girls were up against the hall of blue KR in their semi final match today. Confident of the win, and for the sake of preservation, our all-star freshie captain Cao Yiyin was on the bench.

1st game: Michelle, 3-0 to EH

Stepping onto the court first was our netball superstar Michelle, who was looking for self-redemption from her previous match. Heading into the court with an injured jaw, credits to Celine accidentally hitting the ball to Michelle’s face. The 1st set was won pretty decisively in a 11-2. Building off the rhythm of the 1st set, Michelle was looking to repeat the same pattern in the 2nd set. This eventually came into fruition as Michelle won the 2nd set in 11-3. Michelle was really on a roll today as she finished the 3rd set in 11-3 as well.

2nd set: Irene, 3-0 to EH

After taking a break and not playing the previous game, Irene was looking fresh and was looking to make an impact in today’s match against the girls in blue. For Irene, she made quick work of her opponent with a series of good drives and volleys. Irene finished her 1st set 11-1. Not letting up, Irene continued to demolish the 2nd set by sending her opponent into a running frenzy. The running was in vain and the set ended in 11-1. Needless to say, the 3rd set went along the same trajectory and Irene finished the set at 11-0.

im sure we've all missed Irene's smashes after her long hiatus~

3rd set: Celine, 3-0 to EH

For Celine, she saw a more closely fought match compared to the rest of the squad. The game began by number 23 from KR trailing her 7-1. However right on cue, Celine began to mount a comeback against her opponent. She eventually ended the set at 11-8 in her favor. The 2nd set was yet another close tango with her opponent as Celine tied with her opponent all the way till the 10th point, forcing a deuce. This fierce clash continued for another point forcing either of them to hit 13 points in order to clinch the set point. Eventually, Celine came out on top winning the set at 13-11. As their TM put it, Celine had given her opponent hope only to take it away. As though her opponent had lost all hope, Celine’s opponent had only scored 1 point against Celine. Celine won her set and match at 11-1, securing the win for our girls!

what a menace to society, giving RH so much hope to win then DESTROYING that in seconds.

4th set: Hazel, 3-0 to EH

At this point, the girls were just playing for formalities. Hazel, looking to continue her winning ways entered the court with confidence. As usual, Hazel made quick work of her opponent, winning most of her points on serves, leaving not much for our photographer to work with. Hazel conceded 1, 2 and 3 points for each respective set, almost as though she planned that cool coincidence.

5th set: Gwen, 3-0 to EH

Last but definitely not least, we had our giant badminton player Gwen. In similar fashion, Gwen had scored most of her points via serves. Her characteristic light racket taps from her experience in badminton were almost absent from this match, allowing her to make an almost clean sweep of her opponent. Gwen won her sets in 11-1, 11-0 and 11-1 respectively.

With this, our girls have earned themselves a ticket to the finals where they will face their greatest opponents yet: the white-clad ladies from TH. We wish them godspeed and steadfastness as they try to track down the elusive gold medal for Squash F.
