After a 4-1 victory against SH in their first match, Eusoff’s Squash F team looked to continue their winning ways as they took on KEVII in their second preliminary match of IHG.
Before their game even starts, I would like to give a shoutout to their TM Keith. The welfare he brings for the team is insane, like there's fresh fruits, and I think the previous match he brought snacks he got from his trip to Japan.
Okay enough about Keith, let's talk about the first player to face KE and that's our captain and IVP player Hazel. The KE player was not a threat to Hazel. I went away to settle some convening stuff and when I came back 20 seconds later the score was already 5-0. The set ends 11-0 and based on the time stamp on the telegram commentary, the set finished in 2 mins… Hazel showed no mercy to the KE player. I think even the break between each match is longer than that set. THe 2nd set was no different, as the set finished 11-0. I tried to get some welfare for the team by saying for every point KE scores, the TM will buy a FS milo for the team. It was looking good for Keith when the score reached 9-0, BUT KE managed to pull one back, and its 9-1! And 1 FS milo in the bag. Okay but the set ends 11-1. Eusoff win the first match 3-0. With this win, Hazel beats Yiyin with the score of 33-2 she set in the previous game. The match lasted like 10 mins.
Captain Hazel chilling as she destroys her opponent
Our next player is Yiyin, who just got the record broken by Hazel in the previous match. Maybe It's time for a 33-0? It was looking good for yiyin as the points reached 7-0. KE was close to winning a point but yiyin recovered well. KE did manage to get one back, making it 7-1 but ultimately, the set score ended 11-1. EH took the first set. In the second set, the KE player managed to give yiyin some challenge, scoring 2 points but the set ended 11-2. You could see yiyin playing more relaxed, probably because she doesn't want to risk getting injured before the semis, and also she knows the win is in the bag. The third set ended 11-0 as the KE kinda looks like she gave up.
The next player was the freshie that clutched the match for EH in the previous match. In case y'all forgot, Shiryee came from 10-7 down to win the set 12-10. Shiryee probably has the hardest opponent, facing the KEVII captain. Don’t worry guys because EH is too good. Shiryee showed that she could take on their best player, sweeping her aside with a score of 11-2. Hearsay shiryee is playing with an injured shoulder, tailbone and feet. Looks like the other than her opponent. She has to fight against her own body. In the 2nd set, the KE captain played well, probably taking the first set to warm up. She managed to bring shiryee to the score of 10-10. But shiryee is the clutch god, and closes the set 12-10. Maybe shiryee just giving the opponent some points. Match score is now 2-0 to Eusoff. In the third set, the KE player was unable to return a lot of shiryee’s serves. In the end , shiryee finished the set more comfortably with a score of 11-2. With that, EH have already won the game with a score of 3-0, but because its preliminaries, all 5 sets have to be played.
THe most exciting part of the game probably came during the warm up for the 4th set. Our player for the 4th set is Violet! During the warmup, the KE player threw her racket at violet, BUT VIOLET CATCHES THE RACKET. I think the KE player was trying to kill violet. Just kidding, it was all an accident. The game started with the scores quite tight, 3-2. Violet managed to gain the lead and finished the set 11-4. THe 2nd set started off with the KE player hitting the ball all the way to the ceiling, and violet got the first point. With some consistent good service, the opponent was unable to return them and the lead just grew. The set ended 11-2. The 3rd set was similar to the 2nd as the opponent struggled to return violet’s serves. I heard Khan saying give the KE player a map to find the ball because she can’t seem to get the ball. The set ends 11-4 and EH take the 4th match too.
Our girls squash team celebrating a convincing win against KE
Lastly, we have Irene taking on KEVII. It was a close game at the start compared to the rest of the sets, KE put up a good fight, keeping the score close at 6-4. Irene started to gain momentum and took the lead. Eventually, the match ended 11-5. The second set was much easier for Irene as it ended 11-1. Maybe the first set was just Irene warming up, because in the last set, Irene demolished the KE player 11-0. Or maybe the KE player just wanted to go home already. With that, Eusoff took the 5th match. They won KE with a game score of 5-0 and didn’t drop any sets. Well done girls, semis next!.
