After months of gruelling training on the pitch, the Eusoff softballers went head-to-head against TH in the playoff stage this IHG season. With numerous key players injured and put out of action, this match was proving to be a tough one for the team.

Score-line: EH 1 - 13 TH

The first inning started off with the Eusoff team up to bat. Despite numerous impressive hits by our veteran players, TH’s tight defence allowed them to hold us off to a score of 0 - 0 by the end of our batting turn. Our fielding turn started off slow as well, with pitcher Ruowei handing out “handball glue” pitches and walking the first few TH players. However, once the team got warmed up, they were unstoppable, with Yusoff and Emma making numerous good catches, holding TH off to a score of 6-0 by the end of the first inning.

Following this, the TH players proceeded to consecutively hit bombs across the field, much to the dismay of the EH team and supporters. Not to be outdone, however, our players put in their all during their fielding turn, displaying speedy throws and defensive plays and successfully getting several TH players out. By the end of the second inning, the scoreline was looking grim at 13-0. However, a good hit by Chai allowed EH to earn their first point of the game. Coupled with more solid catches by Yusoff and Bowie which managed to stop TH’s scoring streak right in its tracks, not allowing them to gain another run for the rest of the game.

By the end of the last inning, the scoreline remained at 13-1 to TH despite the Eusoff team’s best efforts, placing us at third for the season. While we did not emerge as champions for IHG 22/23 and ended the season with numerous injuries amongst the team, the team played their heart out with every match and displayed impressive feats of strength and teamwork in spite of the blazing heat each morning. Let’s applaud the softballers for their valiant effort and congratulate them on their impressive third-place win.
