Sweat, stadium lights, sprints, shouting crowds…. The IHG season for our Soccer boys has begun! Supporters from Eusoff and the other halls crowd the supporter’s stand at field 1, in anticipation of exciting match, flashes of brilliance and finally seeing their friends in action!

As Tuesday draws to a close, EUnited finally makes their long awaited match debut against the PGP House, who are playing their first ever IHG. The Eusoff starting lineup is as follows:

The game starts off with Eusoff playing a high line and aggressive pressing. It was only at the 3rd minute a dangerous cross, finds star striker Syafiq who scores from a thumping header making it 1-0 to Eusoff.

Only 4 minutes after, PGP concedes a corner that they failed to deal with properly and the ball lands on Hyrie’s feet, which he dispatches easily with a tap in. At the 13th minute, something truly spectacular and out of this world happened– PGP concedes a corner. Andrew Leow, the Y4 veteran with a sporting moustache, swerves in a corner. At first, the corner looked like a dangerous cross, awaiting a header to tap the ball in. However, the ball curved and dipped, somehow managing to find its way at the back of the net. The supporters and players of both teams stood still for a few seconds before realising what just happened. It was truly a spectacle to behold! Andrew’s corner goal was just a portion of his fantastic performance today, which featured some no-look passes and creative plays that got the team all riled up.

Just 3 minutes after, Gautham wins a penalty for Eusoff, which he steps up to take. Unfortunately, he missed. However, he quickly made up for the blunder and scores Eusoff’s 4th, with another corner goal that PGP failed to effectively defend. He quickly adds his second with a one-two play with Syafiq that opens him up to score. Hyrie adds his second to make it 6-0 with a bullet of a header that left the keeper rooted. Eusoff are awarded their second penalty of the game at the 41st minute and Zi Jing finishes the penalty with calm and collected finish, wrapping up the first half with a score of 7-0 to Eusoff.

Nandha kicks off the second half as he substitutes Gautham. Zi Jing, who had been Eusoff’s midfield engine and backbone, continues to organize the play for Eusoff as they charge into the second half searching for more goals. 5 minutes into the second half, Nandha opens his account for the season, scoring from a well organized set piece goal. Syafiq and Zi Jing come close but eventually Luke claims the ninth goal, as he pounces on a shot by Nandha that was saved. Syafiq, Hyrie and right back Marcus Leow come off after the brilliant 62 minutes they have played, for Ikhsan, Zack the Dentist with Braces and fan favorite, Nicholas. Eusoff once again come close to securing they 10th goal early, as Zi Jing’s blistering dribble leaves 2 defenders in his wake, only to see his assist denied as Nicholas’ shot unfortunately flies straight to Ikhsan’s face. Ouch.

At the 80th minute, 7 minutes into his debut, Oliver scores the 10th goal. A cross from Luke, dummied by Nandha, finds Oliver who finishes top left. Zi Jing’s and Ikhsan come close to an 11th, but the final whistle blows soon after, with the match finishing at 10-0 to Eusoff. The remarkable performance from individual players and exquisite tactical resilience gives us supporters much to look forward to and opposing halls much to worry about. Look forward to the upcoming matches!
