Overall: Eusoff 2nd place

Despite having many uncertainties about road relay taking place, I am glad to say that it still went on regardless! It took place at 8pm, an odd timing that was not very early yet not very late, but the girls still went on enthusiastically. One thing to mention, this IHG, the team was 100% entirely made up of freshies.

Line up of the event -

1st runner: Yi Juan

2nd runner: Jaslyn

3rd runner: Jovanna

4th runner: Cheryl

5th runner: Zong Han

Before the event even started off, many supporters were gathered around the CLB slope! (Of course with their masks on and safe distancing still observed) They cheered the girls on with great enthusiasm and pride!

Yi Juan grits her teeth and pushes hard, could she be our new rising star in running?

Yi Juan may be a familiar face to you guys when it comes to running. She partook in Track 4x400m last Sunday. The race took off with her representing EH as the first runner. Once again, she was fast, steady and furious! Taking a whole lead and widening up the gap between our rivals. Yi Juan ran so effortlessly and made running seem not tiring at all. As she approached the CLB slope, the cheers from our supporters began to roar! The “baton” was then passed onto Jaslyn! We were still leading at this point of time. Our runners are indeed fierce runners. She dashed across the pedestrian crossing (fret not, safety was observed by the marshallers). The crowd was livened up once again.

Jaslyn making running look so effortless!

Even though it was just them running, running and running, it was indeed quite intense to watch in real life. Moving on!! The “passing point” was in sight again and Jovanna was up next. As she glides and slides her every step, we were still ahead of all our rivals, a very steady lead still.

Slow and steady wins the race, but Jovanna proves that fast and steady definitely wins the race as well!

Here comes the intense moment.

The “baton” was passed onto Cheryl! The crowd and cheers got more and more lively as the venue started to tense up as we were down with the last two runners. Cheryl bolted as fast as she could, but as she was nearing the slope, TH caught up!!! The race was intensified. It was such a close fight but thankfully, Cheryl darted and we led once again.

Cheryl getting spurred on by supporters!

On to our last runner, Zonghan! She started off with a powerful BoOm and we were in the lead still. It was at this moment, at the pedestrian crossing near the slope, that TH started to catch up. Our supporters spurred Zonghan on and she did not flinch at all despite running behind TH. She fastened to close up the gap between us and TH. It was so close. In the end, TH took the lead and we came in second which is not at all bad!!

Is that a face of grimace or determination to catch up? Nevertheless, good fight to Zhong Han!

Here are the results:

1st - TH 44:33

2nd - EH 45:03

3rd - SH 46:09

4th - RH 47:34

Our girls did an excellent job despite the change in route this year. Well done and congratulations on getting second place! It was definitely a good race and fight!
