The Netball girls, having started the season with a resounding 40-0 win over RH, ride the momentum into their next game with Sheares Hall. With a star-studded starting line of Li Ann, Jamie, Sonia, Jodie, Patt, Jane and Michelle, they take the court with an overwhelming aura of confidence, ready for the next hour of heart and hustle.
The first quarter starts with an early 3-0 lead for our dear hall, as star IVP “leaning tower of EH” Jamie easily snatches the ball from 30 metres in the sky to put up 3 quick points. Our impressive defence led by Michelle and Jodie also put up some intense pressure on the Sheares players, forcing them to make shots from bad angles, and a quick intercept by Jodie put the icing on the cake as they quickly doubled the score to 6-0. Pat put up a tough fight as she tries to inbound the ball on a deflection, but alas Sheares finally puts up their first point, bringing the score to 8-1, with EH in the lead! With Li Ann and Michelle manning defence, and Sonia and Jane flowing the offence, “8th wonder of the world” Jamie manages to sink one ball after another into the net, ending the quarter with an 11-3 lead.
As Captain Caitlin decides to spice things up, Sniper ShiYi subbed in for Jamie, and Safeguard Sherlyn comes in on WD! Though they are now stacked offensively, Li Ann makes sure Sheares doesn’t get any easy goals, blocking their first attempt to pass to their GA! Though ShiYi gets an easy first point and Michelle absolutely clamping down on defence, the crowd only focused on one thing – cheering Sonia on after she took a rough fall. Good sportsmanship from SH as they make sure she’s okay before continuing on with the game! Jane Just easily makes plays this quarter, lobbing the ball everywhere and finding an amazing pass to Pretty Play Pat, who makes everything look easy, scoring a swish from barely within the semi circle! Though our offensive threat still pushed through, Sheares started gaining some momentum, and the quarter ends with a 17-7 scoreline with EH in the lead.
Commissioner Captain Commander Caitlin says Nah Nah Nah we ain’t letting no one have no momentum against us and subs herself in for the third quarter, bringing Jess, Angie and Jodie back on with her. Cait starts it off with her signature behind the head soccer throw in show, but misses the net! But Show Stealer ShiYi Says She’ll Sink it instead and puts it in easy as 1 2 3! As Sheares’ offence finally started to move more smoothly in the third quarter, Safeguard So Strongly Sherlyn SENDS HER OPPONENT TO THE SHADOW REALM, SWATTING THE BALL OUT OF HER HANDS AS SHE TAKES THE SHOT! On the next Sheares possession, she does another flying leap to deny them the easy shot, forcing a turnover for EH! ShiYi Shows She Should Send the ball to cait, threading the needle a few times and helping Cait find some easy angles to shoot from! As SH gets the ball for the next two starts, Jodie clamps down on defence, as Jess and Angie flow the ball back to Cait for everyone to see her catapult shots! Cait struggles to find her shot, but hustles hard for the rebound, eventually getting her rhythm back and scoring a few! The quarter ends with Sheares starting the ball, but Jodie and Sherlyn show them no mercy, going all out and poking the ball away at every possession! If anyone needs nice hand models, please approach our netball girls cause WOOO do they have nice long fingers for the job!
IVP Captain and SEA Games represent Angie was the mastermind behind Eusoff’s brilliance.
The fourth quarter begins with “Sky Pillar” Jamie taking up the GK mantle after absolutely destroying in offence! A fast break by SH fails as they try to 3v1 Jamie, but she simply SNATCHES the ball in transition and dishes it out to Cait! Though our offence had a tough time again, Jamie JUST CATCHES THE BALL FROM THE OPPOSITION AS IF THEY WERE PLAYING PASSING and yeets it out, eventually making its way to ShiYi as she scores a sweet sweet shot from the baseline! Sonia started shining serenely, pressuring their defence and channeling them into bad passes, which eventually forced two quick turnovers as Jess finds ShiYi at the end of the court. Though ShiYI has a tough few misses, our team never turned their heads down, but instead doubling down on everything as Michelle, playing four straight quarters, taps the ball from the Sheares offence three times in a row, and the team flows the ball all the way for Captain Commando Coast2Coast Cait to let ShiYi take a break and sink the ball in with her signature behind-the-head-shot! Angie also pulls off a stunning fake, juking even me out from the sidelines as she dishes another one to Confident Captain Cait who makes another goal! ShiYi, seeing all this, doesn’t want to feel left out and starts boosting her stats, scoring a few more to widen their lead! As the game comes to a close, some intense last minute booster rockets activates in everyone, as Jamie stops the opposing offence from coming anywhere near the net, Angie pulling off some sick passes and Court Crasher Cait scores 2 more absolute bangers to take the game 29-11 to EH!
National player Jamie bullied defenders in attack, and bullied attackers in defence.
Though the team were already leading by a wide margin at the start, our girls truly showed their determination and heart, playing all out both in defence and offence, and undoubtedly also our centres and Wing Attackers, who kept the ball transitioning throughout the game. With a perfect 2-0 streak to start their IHG, I’m sure our girls will keep on bulldozing through their opponents! So do come down and support them, be it with your loud cheering or words of encouragement, our Netball girls deserve every bit of it!
