There was an air of palpable tension as players from both sides got onto the court and started warming up. One could literally sense the excitement and anticipation that hung heavily in the air of the MPSH5. Today was the final showdown of the two Netball teams from Eusoff and Kent Ridge (KR). Captain Natalie gathered her team for one final pep-talk, before the game began in earnest.
First Quarter 6-6
The match began with a flurry of passes back and forth. With neither side willing to give in, the two teams were really evenly matched. After a sick pass between the opponent’s legs, the ball found itself in the capable hands of ‘sharpshooter’ Faith, who put the ball into the basket with practised ease, almost as if the ball wanted to go through the hoop. Her score allowed EH to finally take the lead, making it 3-2 to EH. With KR now on the offense, the EH defenders quickly spread out and man-marked their opponents, allowing Natalie to intercept the ball and stop their offense. Soon, Faith found herself surrounded by multiple KR defenders but that didn’t faze her one bit as she put another through the hoop, making it 4-4 to EH. Now seemingly on fire and with her scope already well cleaned, Faith sniped two more into the hoop, ending the quarter 6-6.

Second Quarter 8-7 to EH
With the scores so tight, our Netball girls were eager and ready to pull ahead. Unsurprisingly, what out Netball girls want, out Netball girls get as the second quarter started out superbly for us, with Nat seemingly flying, judging from how high she jumped in order to intercept the ball. She then passed it to Caitlin, who easily weaved through the KR defenders like how water flows through rocks. Soon, she found herself within killing distance and put the ball into the hoop, scoring another for EH. Angie seemed to also have the hidden talent of flying, as she flew vertically up and snatched the ball out of her opponents’ hands, allowing Faith to score once more, making it 8-7 to EH.
Netball sensation Angie (yellow) stealthily intercepted the ball. How cool is that?!
Third Quarter 13-12 to EH
The third quarter started with Belle having great vision as she executed a perfect long pass that flew like half the length of the court, advancing our attack. Faith grabbed the ball and gave it no choice but to go through the hoop, scoring another point for EH. Sniper Bryna then slots another one comfortably in, widening our lead. However, KR fought back really strongly, matching every point of ours with shots of their own, with EH narrowly maintaining our 1 point lead throughout the quarter. Bryna proceeds to quickscope KR multiple times, making it 12-10 to EH. A monster intercept from Li Ann allows EH to attack once again, with Bryna passing the ball to her fellow sniper Faith, whom scores once more. However, KR didn’t let up, and the third quarter eventually ends 13-12 to EH.
Beast Li Ann (GK) with the monstrous interception!
Last Quarter 20-14 to EH
After a rousing pep talk from captain Natalie, the team seemed even more fired and pumped up than before, and looked set to destroy their opponents. Right off the bat, Caitlin dodged every single KR defender and scores!!!! EH maintained our impenetrable wall of defence, with Angie and Li Ann destroying everyone that came close enough to them. After a quick one-two play from Nat and Angie, Faith found herself within scoring position and scores again! Soon after another clinical intercept from Li Ann, Caitlin found herself in an awkward spot, far from the goal and surrounded by defenders. She then stunned everyone with an NBA league standard three-pointer shot, which left everyone reeling! With KR’s momentum gone, they couldn’t break the wall of Li Ann and Angie, and EH eventually takes the game 20-14!!!
Netball superstar Caitlin taking a long-ranged shot! So sick!
Once again, the well-deserved title of Netball champions returns to its rightful owner, EUSOFF HALL!!! Let’s give the girls our utmost congratulations for achieving such a feat!
