Today marks the 2nd and last preliminary match for the Eusoff Handball (M) team as they’ll be up against King Edward VII Hall (KE). This match is especially important as Eusoff will need a critical victory to secure a spot in the semi-finals. We know that this IHG has been a competitive season thus far and it has not been easy to determine who moves on to the next round. Without further ado, let’s see how the guys did today on the court!

Our first line-up is as shown: (Outfield) Boliao, Ben, Yusoff and (Keeper) Timo

The match was postponed to 7:50pm due to bad weather and despite initial talks of a walkover, the match was able to go on. KE started off with a slow approach and then a pivot attempt into the net but it was a miss. A juke and pass by Boliao gave the assist to Ben who was able to put the ball into the net, scoring first blood. KE soon replied with a goal to make it 1 all. Both teams then began to trade unsuccessful attempts at goal before Yusoff was able to break through and make a good slide into the left of the net, making it 2-1 to Eusoff. KE was able to equalise with a 9-metre shot after our defence was flagged by the referee. At this point, the game was still rather methodical, possibly due to the floor being too slippery for fast and rapid gameplay. A travel from KE gave us the repossession and resulted in a slightly awkward but successful shot into the net by Yusoff. Boliao then extended the lead to 4 to 2 with a sick flow of the wrist. Timo made a great save when the KE team re-engaged onto us. However, a yellow card was soon given to the Eusoff defence for being too aggressive. After a few more tradebacks, an incident occurred where Boliao got hit and almost lost his manhood. He managed to recover almost immediately, with the sideline shouting for him to not “lose his balls”. A good attempt by KE was saved by an even better block by Timo. The following pass went kind of wide but Yusoff was still able to capitalise with a shot into the corner of the net. After Bo Liao landed a great 9-metre shot, a minute was left on the clock. Yusoff was able to net a ball soon after and with just 5 seconds on the clock, KE gave their last attempt which was then defended by Timo, allowing EH to walk away with the victory for this set.

Set 1: 8-3 to Eusoff

b for Boliao and b for BEAUTIFUL JUMP omg.

Next, we sent out the following line-up for Set 2: (Outfield) Jovi, Tien Yu, JJ and (Keeper) Stefan

Eusoff started the set off with the offence, approaching the KE defence slowly and steadily, allowing Jovi to score an easy goal. A bad throw by KE gave us the reversal, with Tien hitting the ball into the net with “lightning speed” as mentioned by the temporary TM. After a travel, KE was able to rebound with a goal. However, Jovi soon replied with a ball into the top left of the net. Stefan continued to make good saves, preventing KE from scoring more while the outfield was able to find another goal. A penalty shot was soon given to Tien Yu, which was unluckily blocked by the KE keeper. Each of the outfield was able to score soon after and consecutively, further extending the lead. Jovi caught a rebound off the top crossbar and threw it straight back into the net, making it 8-1 to Eusoff. A travel by KE gave Jovi another opportunity to score. The KE outfield tried to reply but it was an overthrow, missing the net by quite a bit. KE soon called for a timeout with the score being 10-1. After the timeout, KE was able to score right off the bat, which was soon replied by 2 back-to-back goals by Eusoff. A good save by Stefan made way for a triple kill immediately. At 3 and a half minutes left, the score was 14-2. A slight miscommunication between the EH outfield and keeper gave KE the chance to retaliate and score a goal. Jovi and the KE outfield then traded a goal each right after. With a last minute goal each by KE and Eusoff, the game ended with a score of 16-5.

Set 2: 16-5 to Eusoff

Jovi's knee hit KE's manboob... man is rlly TOO TALL and too good i must say

Set 3 Line-up: (Outfield) Josh, Darren, Jeremy (Keeper) Yong Sheng

KE started off with an unlucky overhead throw out of bounds. Jeremy was able to land a good cut but it was still blocked by the KE keeper. Both Yong Sheng and the KR keeper was landing impressive blocks, keeping the game goal-less for quite a while until Darren was able to capitalise with an awarded 9-metre shot. Yong Sheng continued with his effort at blocking every attempt by KE. Jeremy soon landed a great shot into the back of the net, making it 2-nil for Eusoff. The KE offence was eventually able to find a slight opening for a goal, which was quickly replied by Josh’s impressive goal. A quick exchange of goals occurred, making the score 4-3 to Eusoff. Josh was then able to bounce the ball into the net, ending the rally for a bit. Jeremy scored 2 goals soon after, making it 6-3 to Eusoff with 6 minutes remaining. The EH outfield leaned a little too outside, giving KE the chance to score. A penalty shot was awarded to KE, but the KE player missed with an overhead shot. An aggressive shove by Josh soon caused the referee to award him a 2-minute suspension and a penalty to KE. The KE player however hit the ball a little too high. Despite the 2 v 3 disadvantage, Jeremy was able to net the ball, with the assist from Darren. A KE player also got a 2nd yellow card and hence a 2-minute suspension. A technical foul from KE where a KE player went back in too early resulted in a 3 v 1 outfield advantage for Eusoff. Yong Sheng even came out to press for a goal but he missed. Down to the last few seconds, Josh was given a 6 metre shot and decided to test out his luck by just throwing it a little high into the net. Unexpectedly, Josh perfectly executed it and it really shook the rest of the Eusoff sideline.

Set 3:11-4 to Eusoff

Yongsheng literally took one for the team and straight up got punched in the guts. thank u.
