Bright, blazing and early. You’d think I was describing the sun, but no. I meant our players. Decked in their yellow jersey, our players warmed up at the incredible hour of 7am. Don’t ask me how, I can barely wake up for my 12pm lecture (and it’s online…). This was just testament to how our team truly is built different. At 8.30, we started our game against Sheares. Quick pulls, hucks and insane chemistry between our team, we witnessed the likes of Linus, Queenie, Jakob and Kevyn playing some quick passes between each other, with some sort of telepathic communication going on. With a swing to Joeland to Linus, Kevyn made his iconic sprint into the scorezone, eyes in the sky as he reached out, inching closer and closer into the scorezone. Yall have heard about Maradona’s hand of God. What about Kevyn’s Hand of Dog?? (Get it aha dog sport aha) ok sorry. ANYWAY, Kevyn made it 1-0 for Eusoff, our first point in the game 4 minutes in.
Quick juke by Sulynn.
The game resumes and once again, Eusoff dominates. With a quick attack by Sheares, Randall smacked it completely off, with play going to Robbo, hinging it to Chen How. With some fast passes between Tonya, Sulynn, and Robbo, Chen How made a quick dash to our scorezone, making it 2-0! The drums on the sideline only accentuated the atmosphere and the support for our athletes, banging every time we were attacking, closer and closer to victory. WIth fast paced attacks like these, it was only inevitable for a Eusoff domination. That was until Sheares scored their first point.
At 4-1, our handlers scrambled to play into spaces, spreading the field. Despite this, our opponents had seemed to have improved their play after a quick timeout. At 4-2, our players looked more than determined to extend the lead so as to have a victorious end to the game. With a swing to Isaac, Linus got the disc and Joel hucked it to Shannon, who got us our next point! Some true Freshie Fire.
Quick passes by Mr Vice-captain, Kam.
After a round of passing around our handlers, we pressured hard with a turnover to Sheares, of which Kevynn SPIKED. So upz. With Kam, Kevyn, Isaac and Joel Ang dominating the field, Kam and Isaac pass it around one another, to which Isaac grabs the disc in the scorezone, extending our lead by another point at 6-2. However, with the restart, Sheares pushed back, shortening the gap to 6-3. A quick timeout was called, to which Sheares restarted the play. After an aggressive attack, Robbo and Tonya both went in to smack the disc, leading to a turnover. As we spread the field, Tonya had some solid bids, completely giving her full commitment to that IHG trophy. With a solid attack to Alyssa, she hucks it to Sulynn, who gets it to Kam. We all watched as the disc soared, from the quarter of the field, landing nicely in Chen How’s hand, making it 7-3!!! AND time!!!
Linus defending with his might.
Eusoff won with true grit, determination and commitment, under such unforgiving weather. It was truly inspiring to watch our team take the Win with such humility and true sportsmanship. WIth everyone’s minds on the match that all of us looked forward to, we braced ourselves for another intense game against our rivals, our neighbour, Temasek Hall at 1PM.
