Last Wednesday marked the start of the season for our Floorball (M) team, with a match against Raffles Hall (RH). The crowd could feel the team’s high morale as they cheered enthusiastically. The spectator stands were filled with yellow as the crowd buzzed in anticipation.

Within the first few moments, Freshie Haoyuan attempted a shot at the goal as he found a loophole in our opponent’s defence but unfortunately missed. It was indeed a daring play right from the start that got the crowd hyped up and excited! Next up, A Block bashie, Jaypy, passed accurate fast balls that travelled far, allowing the team to move up the court, setting up a play for us to attack. Even though RH managed to get near our goal a few times, good saves from Josh and our goalkeeper Ardy displayed splendid coordination and teamwork. What a relief!

Eusoff also had greater possession within the first quarter, as our Floorball boys managed to quickly clear the ball away, denying RH the chance of a goal. With solid defence, loads of combination of passes and non stop exchanges, the Eusoff Floorball boys truly put up quite a show and left the opponents grasping to keep up with the pace. And just in the blink of an eye, Josh scored a drag shot past two players. Wew, what a way to start the season and the game! This gave Eusoff more confidence to up their offence, riding the momentum of the first goal.

Moments after, Edwin scored during a free hit, with a brilliant set up and yet another drag shot to the bottom left corner of the goal post. The audience can barely take their eyes off the match for fear of missing out on a goal from Eusoff! Eusoff continued to put the pressure on RH as Haoyuan drew long fast shots across the courts, bringing the ball forward easily. This timely assist allowed Jaypy scored from the extreme left with an angled cross to the upper right corners of the goal. Presley continued to press on, sprinting at top speed to retrieve lost balls, as well as putting his body on the court to defend our goal. It was a close call as Eusoff nearly dropped a point. Presley intercepted passes in the attacking zone, to clear the ball despite RH’s aggressive offence. At the end of the first quarter the score was already 3-0. If you thought this was the final score, you are entirely wrong. Our floorball team continued to impress us throughout the second and third quarter with equally great plays and amazing shots.

Just five minutes into the second quarter, Jerrel immediately scored a goal. It was a brilliant set up – Jerrel was at the right place at the right moment in front of the goalie. Speedy combination of plays between the players left RH’s defence flustered to reveal a moment of weakness. And as if 1 goal was not enough, Jerrel went ahead and scored yet again, positioned right in front of the goalie with a beautiful pass from Jon, guiding the ball towards the goal post. Another beautiful save from the goalie from cross court. Edwin made brilliant tackles and steals, preventing out opponents from even bringing the ball forward. Lloyd was swift on his feet but his aggressive defence got him 2 mins foul off the court, and the team continued on offence. Despite being 1 man down Edwin made some brilliant steals and tackles that led to a quick changeover of possession, that left little time for RH’s defence to react. Captain Terry then left RH’s defence shookt with a spectacular angled shot from the far right which hit the goal post and deflected in. That’s right folks, another goal for Eusoff! After another series of sick plays and astounding ball control, Haoyuan left the crowd roaring with his long range shot from the middle court. Eventually, the last whistle blew and the game ended with a score of 10 – 1 to Eusoff!

The match today was full of great showmanship and accurate shots that reflected their arduous and effective training. Keep up the good work and let’s continue to give our support to our male floorball team!
