THE MOST ANTICIPATED MATCH OF THE CENTURY IS FINALLY HERE. It is time for our Eusoff floorball boys to face off against TH in the finals! All the training and sacrifice for this match. Our arch rivals/friendly neighbours that have stood in our way time and time again. This time, WE GO AGAIN!
The first period starts and both sides feeling the pre-game jitters. The supporters watching through their screens feel it too. Several miss-passes and off-target shots by both teams…but which team will draw first blood? Solid defending by the boys to stop TH’s opening play as we slowly take control of the game. Our floorball hero Hao Yuan whips a pass to Jon as he tries for a blind-side shot but it is just slightly wide! SO CLOSE!! Collective “ahhhhhhs” were heard from the bench as we regroup and shape up for the TH onslaught again. We try a 70 press and it seems to be working well for the most part as both line 1 and 2 stayed disciplined in keeping the opponent’s attack at bay. The line of defence was so strong that keeper Dillon did not have to move a muscle. King of fakes Kumaran really making things difficult for TH as his fantastic defending clears off TH’s pressure. At the same time, our attackers are taking it up a notch. A cheeky pass by Naidu goes a little wide as Terry misses the pass into the slot but NOT TO WORRY !! SO MANY MORE CHANCES TO COME! Keep pressuring them boys! Not to be trifled with, TH breaks open and gets a clear shot but it’s a SUPERB SAVE by Dillon!! Captain Jaypy PILAYYYYYY holds the ball and dribbles the clock out as we end the first period 0-0 SOLID LA BOYSSSS KEEP IT UP!!!!
Period 1: 0-0
Within minutes, an amazing through ball by Hao Yuan to JJ puts Eusoff on the board. JJ really legendary as he fires the ball into the post!! WE ARE UP BY ONE GOAL LET’S GO EUSOFF!! Dillon really be scooting around at the post as he used those thighs he built from DP pracs to secure the ball, leaving the TH’s attackers frustrated. Excellent ball control by Terry as he makes a great break but it goes straight to the keeper. Keeping the pressure up, Terry dribbles past multiple defenders and once again delivers a stunning shot which falls slightly short (2 cm to be exact!!). What’s a floorball match without a broken stick right? This time it’s Daniel again… are we even surprised? An unstoppable shot by TH gave them the equalizer and brought the scoreline to 1-1. God Hao Yuan with the ball as he calmly handles it behind the TH goalpost, searching for options. RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME JJ KNOCKS THE BALL INTO THE POST. JJ HAS DONE IT AGAIN. WHAT A DEADLY COMBO! Looking to further extend the lead, Nic intercepts the ball with his leg and takes a shot but is saved by the keeper. Shortly after, TH shoots a rebound which levels the score to 2-2. At the same time, TH steps up on defence with 4 men chasing down Hao Yuan as he relentlessly attacks. An amazing attack by Jon falls slightly short as loses his balance just before the shot. Superb effort nonetheless!! TH counters but is a magnificent save by magnetic hands Dillon!! The period concludes with a draw 2-2.
Period 2: 2-2
Scrambling and mess around the post but TH manages a goal as they found a gap amidst the chaos, 3-2 to them. Jaypy with the pressure as he takes a shot straight towards the post but saved by the keeper. Our boys kept the attacks going as Hao Yuan attempted a shot and it ALMOST WENT IN! As the intensity of the game reaches a whole new level, another well-placed shot puts TH up 4-2. TH reigning with their attacks as they secured another goal bringing the score to 5-2 to our neighbours. The boys ain’t giving up just yet as Pres defends the TH players as if his life depended on it, tightening up our defence!! Our last line of defence, Dillon, then made another spectacular save, determined to protect the fort. In the last few minutes, TH widened the gap by securing two more goals, ending the game with a score of 7-2 to TH.
Final score: 7-2 to TH
OUR BOYS PUT UP AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE AND ARE 1ST RUNNER-UPS. WORLD CLASS PLAY from each and everyone on the team. Really. Keep your heads high and yall should be very very proud of yourselves!!
