Our EHBB boys have been dominant throughout the entire competition so far, and this time they are up against none other than Raffles Hall. Some say that today’s game wasn’t just for the W, but the real W would be hitting the 3 digit mark…
1st Quarter
Our basketballers wasted no time in their race to 100pts with a quick thunder to Jovi who (obviously) sinks a nasty three pointer in the face of his defender. If the first shot attempt of the entire game being a three pointer that went in wasn’t enough, Ashley fired the second shot of the game, an insane three pointer which FOULED IN (and he easily swished the free throw for a 4 point play). From then on the game just got real disgusting to watch as our boys in yellow dismantled the RH defence: Jason with quick outlet passes to the free man deep / driving in the paint to pull multiple defenders before kicking it out Ashley for another open three. Our IVP boys also couldn’t be stopped – Jovi out there with monster blocks and the Ashley-Jovi alley oop was just mmmdap spicy.
A stroll in the park for Jovi as he sunk buckets after buckets.
30-10 to Eusoff
2nd Quarter
The second quarter was just all about suffocating defence by our basketballers. Bosco Kor (kor) hustling hard and even rolling on the ground to retain possession really epitomizing the spirit our basketballers have – the grit and determination required to be champs. At this point, our basketballers were out there just showing off their flair – Jovi taking on the entire RH defence, Haohsuan with a classy reverse layup, Jason’s nasty hesitation move, Dylan’s disgusting up and under (and the sick block that unfortunately fouled the player). The quarter ended with Wenjie chucking the ball from halfcourt and nailed the rim (damn close) and the crowd went oooOOOooOOoooOOooo.
55-24 to Eusoff
3rd Quarter
The basketballers have already scored past 50 in the first half and the crowd is buzzing about a 100 point game. What’s a match review without mentioning freshie Bryan Beh using his size to bully people in the paint? Wenjie also started coming online, going coast to coast and dribbling through the RH defence as if they were cones. It’s also damn impressive to note how calm Jason is in the game – coming off a dribble, he floats one in the face of the RH defender and into the net. Jovi also had a nasty side-step three (our basketballer’s three point % was really off the charts this game) At this point, the shotclock for RH suddenly turned off – maybe the referees decided that RH probably won’t be able to retain possession against our sick defence past 24 seconds anyway… Wenjie once again had another chance to beat the buzzer with less than 5 seconds left on the clock and he drives it all the way but the RH defender didn’t relent and unfortunately got a piece of Wenjie’s shot, deflecting it away from the basket.
83-34 to Eusoff
4th Quarter
The basketballers have averaged more than 25 points a quarter at this point, and we just need 17 more to hit that big 3 digit mark (surely they can do it right?). We started off red hot with another Shyan-Jovi alley attempt but he couldn’t quite finish it. But good hustle gave Jovi another shot and he was out for blood, dropping a body under the basket and forcing his way in for a classy reverse layup. Ashley once again drives in and draws multiple defenders before kicking it to Shyann (we’ve seen this time and again) and he just took his time, waiting for the defender to close in before splashing a three in his face… nasty… With 5 minutes remaining, EHBB was up 96-37. SURELY it will be a 100 point game… But we suddenly changed sports and Kenjun and Jason was out there playing volleyball and thunderblocking RH’s passes – good hustle to gain possession but our shots just weren’t landing in the fourth. With 1:34 left on the clock, we had 98 points! Just one more basket and it would be a done deal – OR SO WE THOUGHT… Call it bad luck but every ball that our players intercepted somehow found its way back into RH’s hands and they managed to hold us 98-37 to Eusoff at the end of the game.
Final score: 98-37 to Eusoff
Even though we suan them for not hitting 100, let’s give credit to the amazing effort & excellence the basketballers displayed during this game and it truly was tantalizing to watch. Catch our basketball boys ball out of their minds this Friday, 7th Feb 9.15pm @ USC for more 100 point disappointments!!! 🙂
