In a hard fought game, our Basketball (M) team took on Kentridge Hall, ultimately coming out on top and advancing to the finals.

Eusoff opened the game firing on all cylinders. A series of makes and good defensive plays saw our boys in yellow race to an early 12-5 lead. A nice block by Jared resulted in an impressive spin move layup by Chuan Yao, finishing the quarter 14-7.

In the second quarter, Eusoff were determined not to take their foot off the pedal. The boys in yellow made scoring look too easy while the boys in blue just didn’t have an answer. Consecutive buckets by Chester wrapped up the first half, with Eusoff enjoying a comfortable 29-13 lead.

It wouldn’t be an entertaining game without some late-game comebacks. Kentridge came alive in the second half, outscoring Eusoff 12-6 to finish the third quarter 36-25. Kentridge continued to pile on the pressure in the fourth quarter, ultimately bringing the game to within 1. However, solid defense by Eusoff on the last possession secured the win. Final score: 39-38.

It wasn’t the prettiest of games - lots of fouls, free throws and misses. But that’s basketball. Some nights the shots won’t be falling and some games will just be filled with stoppages. Yet winners will find a way to hammer out the scrappy wins. Today the guys showed that they are capable of doing exactly that. In any case, a win is a win and the guys will undoubtedly be hungry for some vengeance against Temasek in the finals.

Special mentions go to:

  • Chuan Yao, who played with immense composure despite it being his first season in yellow. Scores, steals, rebounds - the man did it all tonight. His defense was particularly notable in ensuring Eusoff survived the KR onslaught in the second half. No wonder he was MVP in his A Division competition.

  • Jovi, the other guy who did it all tonight. His superb shooting and slick passing was vital in Eusoff building up a huge lead early in the game. He was so clutch in the dying moments of the game, scoring some crucial points to ensure Eusoff came out on top.

The guys will close off their season with the finals against Temasek. Be sure to come down and give them your fullest support!
