Hot after their win last game, our basketball girls are hungry for their next match – this time it’s Sheares Hall who have to save themselves from falling prey to our girls in yellow!
Our basketball girls wasted no time and took to spanking our opponents from the get-go. Vera and Hwee Ching really just abusing their insane reach and length to bully our opponents (and it’s not like they can’t shoot or pass… truly unfair…). Being strong in the paint isn’t Eusoff’s only ace; the first quarter was all about perimeter shots. Jinwen was on fire, cutting through the SH defence and dropping threes, netting herself almost 10 points in the first quarter alone. Gotta give credit to the solid ball movement by the team. Our girls not only outskilled our adversaries but also outsmarted them as they were able to adapt to SH’s double screen quickly and they switched quickly to deny SH’s star player any chance to attack the basket.
Captain Jin Wen showed everyone how it’s done with quick and easy points.
Despite a rather stagnant second half due to turnovers and Sheares being able to draw fouls from us, it truly can’t be understated that the whole team played solid defence and were able to hold Sheares to 31-11 by the end of the half.
First half: 31-11 to Eusoff
If the first half was about raining threes on Sheares, the second half was more about fastbreaks and plays in the paint. Our girls adopted diagonal cuts into the paint with our 2 great walls Vera and Hwee and Sheares simply could not stop our indomitable centers.
Joey was an absolute beast on court!
Mad hustle from everyone meant that Sheare’s had ZERO chance coming back into this game. Shanice and Georgia out there going for every ball, Joey with them steals, there’s really too many to name but collectively, the girls showed us championship-calibre attitude and spirit. Vera also had two consecutive steals which led to easy fastbreak points in the third and Jinwen was also balling out of her mind, netting four threes by the third quarter… truly insane. It was quite clear by now that our basketball girls were just simply outplaying the opponents at every turn. The final score stood at 52-26 to Eusoff, with our girls exactly doubling the opponent’s score.
Final score: 52-26 to Eusoff
