In a stellar display of dominance, our Basketball (F) team comfortably dispatched Kentridge in the semi-finals.
From the get go, it was all Eusoff. Losing the tipoff, Han Xi’s aggressive defending led to a steal and easy layup to draw first blood. Arshia doubled the lead with a long two before Han Xi went on a 4-0 run, converting two fast breaks to give Eusoff an 8-2 lead. Eusoff continued to pile on the pressure and KR just had no answer. Cynthia went on a nice 5-0 run, making two free throws and a three to give Eusoff a 23-4 lead. The first half ended with Eusoff having an extremely comfortable 35-9 lead.

The second half was not any different from the first. On top of their stellar offense, the girls were hustling on defense, forcing tons of wild shots from the KR plays. They were lucky to make some of these shots, but that was all they could manage against a Eusoff team that refused to let up. At one point, the score difference was a staggering 33. Holding themselves to high standards, the Eusoff girls never took their foot off the pedal, and finished the game with a Natasha three. Final score: 61-27.
This was by far the best overall performance the girls put up all season. The offense was fantastic - shots were falling and the girls were facilitating easy scores with their plays. Defense was impeccable - of the few scores that KR had, even fewer were easy makes.

Truthfully, today was a great team win and everyone who played had their moments. Nonetheless, here are the special mentions for the players who really stood out:
Han Xi: If I had a penny for everytime Han Xi made a steal this season, I could afford to eat Befrank's full-price menu. Jokes aside, she really showed up today. Two steals and six points in the first few minutes set the tone for what was to come the rest of the game. Her defending was so aggressive that KR struggled to bring the ball into the Eusoff half of the court. She also made a seriously deep three to cap off a fantastic two-way performance.
Arshia: When your center can spread the floor and make shots, the other team is really in trouble. Arshia demonstrated her deadly shooting prowess today, making a long two early on and two threes later. She also stood her ground against the taller KR centers, snagging some crucial rebounds.
Natasha: The team welcomed Natasha back in the lineup today after she missed the last game due to injury, and she reminded them of what she is capable of. Combining speed, strength and agility, her drives were unstoppable today. She hustled hard on defense and had some nice steals and blocks, especially on the KR fastbreaks.
Cynthia: In a team with so much talent, the ball must be shared. Cynthia didn’t have the most offensive opportunities today, but she really made those that she did count. She was immensely efficient, making almost all of her free-throw and field goal attempts. She also put in a defensive shift, ending the game with three steals.
With that, the girls advance to the finals and will play on Friday. Be sure to come down and give them your fullest support!
