While this reporter was halfway through the bestselling pinky pasta from Tea Party, our bball babes launched their semi-final match against the team from Sheares Hall (SH). Electrified by their male counterpart’s victory in their semi-finals, our girls were determined to obliterate their opponents on court!

Armed with our very own Margo Dydek, Joey easily won the jump ball, but tipped the ball to a lucky SH player’s hands by mistake, OSHUCKS! However, this was no big deal to our girls, as they quickly found a player to guard and forced a turnover with their shadow-like defence. IVP Superstar Angela made a strong drive as if to shoot, but she syke-d the opponent and dished to Wen Qi, who then sank a long mid-range shot with NBA accuracy! After showing her sik chemistry with Wen Qi, Angela decided to go solo when she made a lightning-quick steal and fast break down for a solid lay-up. SH tried to put an end to our successful offensive plays, but they were not able to match up to our girls’ marksman-worthy accuracy! Joey smashed her opponents hopes of comeback with a rebound and underbasket immediately after they missed their shot. The concrete defence put up by our girls forced SH to make a miss pass, and they immediately called for a time-out to re-discuss their game plan (7-2 to Eusoff).

After their tactical discussion, SH proceeded to pass the ball straight into Jamie’s hands. Jamie wasted no time in this turnover and made a sik power play with Hwee Ching, who then slotted 2 points for the team.  Our girls staged a 1-2-2 defensive trap for their SH opponents, and Jamie’s quick hands left the SH team clueLESS and ball-LESS when she stole the ball and broke away for a lay-up! When the whistle went off, the score was 11-5 to Eusoff.

A battle of #45s, as Angela raced down the court.

The 2nd quarter was a decimation on our part. Capt Val startled her opponent when she caught the ball they intended for a shot! She then made a fast break down the court to set up a scoring opportunity for bball rookie, Alex, who dove in for the kill but got fouled by a SH player. This awarded her 2 free throws, where she managed to score her first point of the season, WAY TO GO ALEX! Pumped with the adrenaline, Alex made another sik save when she stole SH’s rebound! This was later converted by Angela to a power lay-up, PEW PEW. Capt Val then went on to make this reporter laugh herself silly when she pulled a Swan Lake on us whilst going for a lay-up and even airball-ed twice in a row, LMAO! However, Capt Val redeemed herself immediately after the mishap by plucking SH’s rebound from the air and making a fast break down with mad handles to dime to Angela, and SCORE! Beast Vivian was out to make a name for herself when she made a sik pump fake before scoring an underbasket, making it a 3-point play when SH fouled her. Continuing the scoring flurry, Chok dropped a MAD 3 pointer, BANG BANGG! She then reminded us that was not a fluke when she put in another long mid-range shot, ending the quarter 23-6!

In the 3rd quarter, our girls continued to dominate when Angela discovered the chink in SH’s defence and dimed the ball to Bread, who sank a clean 2 pointer. Capy Hui Ling utilized her animal instincts to tap SH’s rebound to Hwee Ching, who then went up strong like a big man and made a power lay-up, GOOD STUFF! After this sik success, Capt Val stole the SH rebound and drove coast to coast before a dime to Hwee Ching, and Hwee Ching scored again! Looks like there ain’t no CHINK in Hwee CHING’s offence. What a VJ combo! Angela kept SH in their scoring desert when she intercepted their ball and used her mad handles to advance the ball faster than this reporter could say “Sik sik SIKKK”, then making an assist to Bread who easily scored an underbasket. SH made another attempt to shoot, but Hui Ling intervened with a MONSTER BLOCK TEARING THE BALL FROM THE SKY!! Unfortunately, the ball went out and was still in SH’s possession. Luckily for us, we had our trusty SMC Logs Head LOCKED in on the ball and Alex snagged it in a jiffy, passing it to Capt Val who dimed to Bread, aaannnnddddd BANK SHOTTT! Chok was all out to impress the spectators, when she dropped ANOTHER 3 POINTER, SIK. SH tried to make a comeback as they attempted to weave through our girls’ tight defence, but T-Rex Jin Wen was having none of that and tapped the ball out just as the buzzer goes, with the score 42-9.

Jamie with a sik lay-up, leaving her opponents in orange helpless as they could only watch on.

Going into the last quarter, Jamie left her opponent in her dust when she made a fast break from coast to coast for a sik lay-up. Our girls then went on to put up a good D with their man-to-man, when they left the SH players no other option but to attempt an impossible 3 pointer (which they missed). At that point, Angela stole the rebound and sent the ball to Jamie for a fast break that ended with an underbasket! Not trailing off far behind, Joey followed in her C Block senior’s footsteps when she aggressively intercepted the ball and scored a lay-up! SH made a valiant effort to close up the score difference, but the quarter and match eventually ended 52-16 to Eusoff.

With that, TGIF concluded with our girls qualifying for Sunday’s grand finale! They would be facing the dark horse of the season, Kent Ridge (KR) Hall for the finals. This reporter is expecting some berserk drumming from the KR supporters’ side so let us not lose out by coming down to support our girls! EH SOAR AS ONE, LET’S GO EUSOFF!
