The quote “Every journey begins with the first step” certainly would strike a chord in our Eusoff Basketballers, as their quest to the finals began today with their preliminary round against RH. They certainly did not disappoint and put up a spectacular performance to take home the 3-0 victory to be on pace for yet another Finals appearance in this year’s IHG.
Set 1: Han Xi, Jermaine, Shanice, Xin Yin (12-1, win)
The first set is often one of the most crucial sets because it seeks to set the tone for the entire series. Right off the first possession, led by Shanice, Eusoff Hall quickly gained momentum and caught fire, finding their opponents off guard and cutting towards the hoop for easy buckets. The squad played tremendous defense, forcing their opponents to turn the ball over by intercepting the passing lanes twice consecutively, with Jermaine hitting a mid range jumper at the top of the key. Despite building a comfortable lead, the girls never let their guard down and continued hustling, grabbing multiple offensive rebounds and scoring off second-chance points to secure the set 1 victory.
HAN XI TAKES THE FREE THROW AND SCOOORES
(she looks so nonchalant about it... are free throws too ez for our imported player...???)
Set 2: Mabel, Reese, Nicole, Tamelly (14-2, win)
The second set featured a multitude of rising stars and veterans, all of whom wasted little time getting into the groove. Back to back drives from Nicole off the turnovers from RH allowed Eusoff to bolt to a 2 to nothing lead, and Tamelly quickly extended the lead with a quick jumper and a cutting layup. The lead quickly ballooned to 10-1 in favour of Eusoff off great defense and awareness with Nicole as the defensive anchor and great all-round offense, and it was Mabel who buried a cold 3 pointer that effectively ended the set in a huge 14-2 victory for Eusoff.
perhaps cny came early for our freshie superstar Mabel since it seems like the 88 on her jersey brought her some HUAT in the game too! HUAT AH
Set 3: Angela, Yeehui, Cheryl, Ruoyin (8-1, win)
The final set featured Cheryl, the team captain, alongside three other superstars Angela, Yeehui and Ruoyin, who looked to close out the series with an emphatic ending. Angela opened the set with a post spin move, completely dazzling her opponent and hitting a bank shot layup for the lead. A beautiful dime from her to the wide open Cheryl 3 broke open the game, as Eusoff quickly cruised to a 3-0 lead. Despite RH playing some good defense, the girls were relentless at grabbing boards, constantly boxing out and moving offball for additional possessions. Lastly, to seal the game, Angela hit home a huge 3 pointer, sending the crowd (or at least her team) wild and screaming on the bench!
Congratulations to Eusoff Basketball F in their victory against RH in this competitive series! We hope that the Eusoff Basketball team would continue to bring in this effort and energy for subsequent matches, and we wish them all the best for the championship run. Do catch our Eusoff Basketball Team again next Tuesday, 11/1 at 9.30pm for their next match against KE.
