Our Badminton boys are back at it again, this time against PGP Hall in an effort to secure their places in the Semi-Finals. The team fielded the following lineup for this exciting matchup:

Line up

  1. Singles: Brian

  2. Doubles: Debin and Kai Bin

  3. Singles: Michael

  4. Doubles: Bang Yi and Huan Zhang

  5. Singles: Eik Chieh

Brian showcases his gentle side in the first set, lightly tapping the shuttlecock over instead of smashing it! His teammates insist that he is lengthening the rally on purpose so that he can get some exercise in, probably to keep fit for future bash photoshoots. Although this gentle approach works for him and he wins the first set, Brian seems to have gotten tired of rallying and begins smashing more in the second set. Either way, he wins both sets and starts the day off with a win!

EH 1:0 PGPH

Debin and Kaibin show their opponents that age is just a number, and the chemistry between this freshie and LYLC senior duo lets them take an early lead in the game. Sick smashes from both Bin’s widen the already large lead, and they take the first set easily! Although their opponents put up a stronger fight by smashing more in the second set, they are no match for Bin #1’s youthfulness and Bin #2’s experience, as Bin and Bin win the second set in record time! Sorry to Kai Bin who complained that he had too little screen time on the live updates, but it’s really not my fault that the two of you are so good!

De Bin and Kai Bin strategise intensely with Captain Eik Chieh during a timeout.

EH 2:0 PGP

Michael flexes his talent, as well as his short’s elasticity by doing a split in an attempt to hit a shuttlecock over. Unfortunately his racket doesn’t reach the shuttlecock in time. Determined to make up for this, Michael shows no mercy and smashes shuttlecock after shuttlecock over and his opponent is unable to defend himself, winning the first set 21-7. He continues to smash and do gymnastics, taking the second set 21-8, walking off court to the applause and admiration of his teammates!

EH 3:0 PGPH

Bang Yi and Huan Zhang are full of energy as they immediately start smashing their opponents (shuttlecocks) and take an early lead in the game. This freshie duo continues to smash their way to a victory in the first set. Apparently they still have too much energy to spare as Bang Yi does a random jump halfway through the second set without touching the shuttlecock! The two of them channel this energy into winning the second set and taking home the fourth match for the day.

Huan Zhang and Bang Yi were dominant on the court, winning point after point.

EH 4:0 PGP

The last match of the day ends in a high as captain Eik Chieh confidently walks onto the court to take home the final win for eusoff. He begins the set by ruthlessly smashing the shuttlecock at his opponent showing off his excellent arm strength! His opponent returns his brutal smashes but Eik Chieh proves that he will do anything for a win, and gets down on his knees to win the first set 21-3. Despite the large margin, it was an intense set and his teammates step in to wipe his sweat from the floor, thankfully using a towel and not a jersey. Eik Chieh finishes the second set 21-8 and walks off court into the welcoming arms of his team!

EH 5:0 PGP

Good Job Badminton Bois, you all did great! Let’s continue to cheer them on for their next game!
