Coming up against our girls in the semi-finals today is Raffles Hall. Before the match started, captain Felicia confidently told us “today confirm win” and that it was “just a matter of 5-0 or not”. Such faith in the team can be attributed to the countless hours our girls put into training.

Coming up first, we have our freshie series star Queenie in the 1st singles. Starting off slow, Queenie had a series of mishits and she was tied up with her opponent at 7-7. However, after floorball captain Ying Ying demanded on the livestream that Queenie destroys her opponent quickly and come over to be her goalkeeper, Queenie finally got serious. With many spectacular cross court drops, she takes the 1st set easily at 21-11. In the 2nd set, Queenie started off slowly again. However, remembering her floorball captain’s words, she got back into the game quickly and sealed the 2nd set 21-10.

1st singles: Queenie 21-11, 21-10 (W/W)

our freshie star started to widen the gap when she remembered that the floorball team would be doomed without her goalkeeping.

Up next we have our star studded doubles comprising Aderes and Gwen. With these 2, there’s always almost nothing to fear. With their perfectly placed shots, Aderes and Gwen gave us a masterclass, as they took the 1st set 21-6. In the 2nd set, the RH pair simply had no answers to our shots and before we knew it, the match was concluded. Aderes and Gwen took the 2nd set in record time 21-9.

1st doubles: Aderes & Gwen 21-6, 21-9 (W/W)

A for Aderes, A for Absolutely destroying our opponents

In the 2nd singles, we have yet another beast to seal the deal. Our senior series star and all-rounded athlete Elis has been tasked to take the 3rd point for Eusoff. She supposedly rushed over immediately after dominating at floorball, just to dominate in badminton too. Sheeeeeeesh. There was absolutely no fight as Elis made her opponent look like an amateur, with a series of ankle-breaking and demoralizing shots, all while she was strolling around the court with ease. She took the 1st set 21-5. Another badminton masterclass, as she made it clear that there was absolutely no chance for her opponent. She booked a spot for Eusoff in the finals with a 21-4 win in the 2nd set.

2nd singles: Elis 21-5, 21-4 (W/W)

In the 2nd doubles we have Huilin and Naomi. Starting off very strongly, they raced into a 11-4 lead at the interval. With a series of unforced errors from RH and very nicely placed shots from us, Huilin and Naomi arrived at game point with a 13 point lead. However, small chokes lead to RH stealing a few more points before Naomi sealed the set with a deceptive drop shot 21-11. In the 2nd set however, the RH pair found answers to Huilin and Naomi’s shots. Strong resistance was met as our pair found themselves trailing 7-11 at the mid game interval. Refusing to let their opponents slip away, Huilin and Naomi clawed back point after point, managing to tie it up at 18-18. Ultimately, our pair was able to slip ahead and we took the 2nd set 23-21, surviving a minor scare.

2nd doubles: Huilin & Naomi 21-11, 23-21 (W/W)

In the last singles, we have another all-rounded superstar, Celine, who just came over after dominating at her floorball match too. Looking to be in very good condition, Celine starts off strong with a 11-6 lead in the interval. Making it seems as though she never had a floorball match before this, Celine took the 1st set 21-12. In the 2nd set however, I guess the fatigue from the floorball game finally started to set in. On top of that, her opponent found her rhythm, giving Celine a tough time, making her really work for every point. It was an extremely tight game, with both sides refusing to let the other get ahead. However, RH managed to slip away with the set, winning 18-21. In the 3rd set, Celine was visibly physically exhausted, however, with her fast reflexes and impeccable placement, she managed to calmly pull the lead apart. At this point, the RH player seemed to be getting a bit frustrated and impatient as she made a series of unforced errors. Celine capitalized on this, taking the 3rd set 21-12, completing a 5-0 sweep for our girls.

Last singles: Celine 21-12, 18-21, 21-12 (W/L/W)
