The girls all looked serious as they warmed up in preparation for their semifinals match against Raffles Hall, determined to win their opponents and secure a place in the finals!

Match 1
Celine starts out strong, and immediately takes the lead 7-4 with her swift movements and strong strokes! She widens the lead 11-5 with her signature slicing that catches her opponent off guard and is relentless as she wins the first set 21-9. The second set is just as smooth, with her impeccable technique and fast movements, going on to secure the win at 21-8. Her win sets the tone for the entire game and our Badminton girls are in high spirits as Celine walks off court after taking the win!!!!! To quote her roommate Gladys Loo, it was an “ezgame”. Good job Celine!!

Match 2
IVP player Zhiyi and ex IVP player Sheri take the court for the second game! To quote Gladys Loo who was noisily commentating throughout the game, “if I was their opponent I would be so scared”. Although their opponents put up a strong fight and managed to always be only a few points behind at 10-8 and 11-10, the doubles proved that they were in IVP for a reason, returning point after point and going on to win the first set at 21-13. Zhiyi shows off her recovered arm by smashing the shuttlecock so hard that her opponent cannot return it, while sheri’s quick reflexes does not allow their opponent to score as much. They end up taking the second set 21-17, and win the second game of the day!
Freshie sensation Zhi Yi made her presence known on the court with her powerful smashes!

Match 3
Another IVP player Aderes steps on court to make her debut as a singles player this IHG! The new role did not faze her in the least as she remained calm and composed, making many good judgements where she allowed the shuttlecock to fly out, while smashing strategically into the corners to make her opponent run. Her opponent fights back and rallies with Aderes but Aderes wins the point and takes the first set 21-13. She continues to deliver sick shots and is consistent till the end, taking the second set 21-8! Her win means that the girls have won raffles and clinched a spot in the finals!

Match 4
With the overall score already at 3-0, and their place in the finals already guaranteed, senior duo Joanna and Weilynn step on court with a different motivation- to get a clean sweep against Raffles. Weilynn uses her height to an advantage, not even needing to jump for some high balls to return them, while Joanna uses all her strength to smash the ball so hard that it is impossible for her opponents to receive it. Their chemistry brings them to a strong finish of 21-8 for the first set. The second set starts off a little more shakily with a 4-4 score but the girls widen the lead to 11-6 in no time. Although they lose a few points in the row at the end, they prove that they are the superior double and win the second set 21-14!
Playing in their 3rd IHG together, Joanna and Wei Lynn displayed their impeccable teamwork and chemistry, cruising to a solid win.

Match 5
Smiley and cute Jiaen prepares to play the final match, hoping to make it a 5-0 win against RH. She never drops her smile- or the shuttlecock as she returns point after point, taking the lead with a huge grin on her face! Her quick reflexes and good judgement calls widens her lead to 17-7 and she wins the first set 21-7. She continues this winning streak by maintaining her solid strokes and strong smashes, eventually taking the second set 21-5, and winning the last match of the day no sweat, all smiles.

Good job to the badminton girls who gave it their all and played their best on court today! Come support them in their finals against TH, this Saturday 9am at MPSH5!
