Walking into their second official match of IHG 21/22, our badminton girls are pumped to bring glory for Eusoff. Today our girls face PGP in the preliminaries. Oscar, our superstar male captain is present with us as the coach of the girl’s team (dk if he there to coach or he there to distract the girls with his stunning hair). He is extremely confident that this match will be a breeze for them.
First up, we have our vice-captain Gwen in the 1st singles. Oscar predicts that Gwen will eat her opponent in 10 minutes as she proceeds to take the 1st set 21-5. Her opponent found no answer to Gwen’s powerful smashes and she easily seals the deal with a 21-4 in the 2nd set.
1st singles: Gwen 21-5, 21-4 (W/W).
Next up, we have our captain Felicia and Nicole in the 1st doubles. With only 3 functional legs in total, Felicia is confident that they will Makan their opponents with ease. In case y’all didn’t know, Fel just played 2 full days of racket sports in NUS racketlon and here she is, ready to devour PGP with one functional leg. Sure enough, Felicia and Nicole overwhelmed their opponents, taking the 1st set 21-5. In the 2nd set, PGP tried to exploit the fact that Felicia has one leg by increasing the number of long lifts, however, they were simply not good enough as their lifts were mostly short, giving Felicia and Nicole the green light to smash. Felicia and Nicole outclassed their opponents and proceeded to win 21-4.
1st doubles: Felicia & Nicole 21-5, 21-4 (W/W)
Captain Fel says this is no kick even tho its her 3rd straight day of racket sports.. insane.
In the 2nd singles, we have our freshie superstar Queenie. No words needed to be said to her as she easily took the first set 21-7. There was such a stark difference in skill level that it was lowkey painful to watch. Queenie effortlessly to the 2nd set 21-1, sealing the victory for Eusoff and securing a place in the semi finals.
2nd singles: Queenie 21-7, 21-1 (W/W)
In the 2nd doubles, we have our 2 squash superstars Yiyin and Hazel. Not only do they clap people in squash, apparently they too can clap people in badminton. In the 1st set, Yiyin and Hazel showed PGP that they were the best in squash by SQUASHING them with their squash strokes. Their opponents were literally SQUASHED by them as they easily took the 1st set 21-9. In the 2nd set, PGP found answers to their squash plays by actually playing badminton, giving them a rather challenging set. Ultimately, Yiyin and Hazel were able to keep their composure and seal their victory with a 21-17 victory.
2nd doubles: Yiyin & Hazel 21-9, 21-17 (W/W)
squash freshies debut in their first badminton game!
Last but not least, our E block bashie Mizuki makes her badminton debut. She played her best but her opponent was probably the best PGP had to offer. PGP found all the answers to Mizuki’s smashes and drops while Mizuki was unable to do the same. She lost the 1st set 11-21. With the bench cheering for her, Mizuki walks into the 2nd set, hoping to turn the game around. However, her opponent was just too good and Mizuki couldn’t convert her smashes, allowing her opponent to race ahead with a 10-21 victory.
Last single: 11-21, 10-21 (L/L)
