Being a Team Manager for table tennis is a tough job, one that Brandon agrees on as he relents on the hundreds or even thousands of balls that he has picked up after training. He does his job so well in collecting these small tiny balls that it is a surprise to see that there are no balls hiding in the Function Hall.
One of the reasons he took on the role as a TM was because he heard it gives a lot of points and is a fun job from his friends. Well, that was not how it turned out for Brandon as he joked that they definitely lied to him.
When asked who the players are to look out for in our table tennis team this year, he picked Bryan Wee and Sonia. He is confident that Bryan will choke in the upcoming Inter-Hall Games which I am sure is probably one of his plans to give chance to his weaker opponents. For Sonia, it was because she has beaten him before. Lastly, he chooses Joash to be the biggest brain player in the team. It is always a great idea to come for table tennis training after a good amount of hydration. I am sure his aim and accuracy improved with that power boost!
On the other hand, Nathania finds being a Team Manager for Table Tennis to be a rather interesting and different experience. It is not often one gets the opportunity to part of the behind the scenes of a sport one is not that familiar in. Her goal as a TM is to ensure that her sportsmen obtain sufficient welfare as a reward after every gruelling training.
Nathania similar to Brandon dislikes the cold temperature in the Function Hall. Honestly, I judged her when she said she prefers to be in the burning sun than the chill air-conditioned hall. Yet, I was in awe of her big brain play where she uses her own ice bag instead of the heavy bulky icebox that the majority, us- not as smart people use.
When asked about her favourite player to look out for, she picked Shoib because of his unique play style due to his tall height. She also praises Zonghan for her skills and talent despite her young age. One interesting observation she has observed is that the table tennis players do not really like 100 plus and prefer Milo and Ribena instead. To current and future TMs, that is a tip to look out for!
Nathania and Brandon’s commitment as Team Managers for table tennis is one to applaud and we thank them for their past and future contributions!
