Every year, Eusoff Football teems with individuals with talent and tenacity, and this year is no different. Let’s get to know the freshies you’ll want to keep an eye out for this IHG, who are striking both on and off the field!
Starting us off is CJ, who started playing football at the tender age of 3.
Don’t underestimate him, for his stature multiplied with his quick wits and athleticism makes him a monster on the field! He claims his introduction to the sport was partially due to his inability to argue with his dad at such a young age, but his early start has definitely given him an edge and brought him to many places and opened many doors for him - from DSAing to ACJC to playing at a national level. As he reminisces scoring goals against other countries such as Malaysia and Korea at just 14, it is evident that Eusoff definitely scored with this multi-talented player who is not only a student athlete but also a pageant king (keep your eyes out for his dance item in Bash ;)).
Thinking about his decision to play for Eusoff, he says the best thing about it are his teammates and team dynamics. The solid team culture makes up for the early trainings and gruelling drills, as he can’t wait to be on pitch with them every training session and every game. Determined to win the gold for Eusoff, you can be sure that CJ will be playing his hardest and pushing his team to greater heights this IHG. When asked for something he would like to tell his team, his response is immediate: “y’all are good…”
Next, we have one of the shining stars of the female football team, Agatha!
She picked up football officially in Secondary 3, but she dabbled in the sport for fun when she was younger as well. Watch out boys, as she says the satisfaction of kicking a ball as hard and as far as she can is unparalleled, and attributes this to be the driving force of her interest in football. Football has changed her life for the better, as it taught her tenacity and grit. Her perseverance is evident on the field as she always pushes herself beyond her limits with her eyes always set on greater heights.
Don’t be intimidated by her intensity though, as even the Professionals have to start somewhere. Looking at her aptitude you would never expect her to be on the losing team, but she laughs as she remembers a competitive game she had to play despite being completely new to the sport - “I played a game in Delta League without knowing what offside was and got trashed 11-0…” She lives by the mantra that hard work and unity beats talent any day, but it is undeniably a combination of all three that has allowed her to blossom into the football beast we see today!
Now, she is proud to call Eusoff her home and loves that she can play for a hall she feels a sense of belonging to.
After our conversation, I have no doubt that CJ and Agatha will shine on the football field come IHG season. Be sure to cheer them on!
